I have been looking at several types of RAM what is available for me to buy and what should work good with a ryzen 1600.

The ram is :
Crucial ballistix elite 3200 BLE2C4G4D32AEEA.
2 x 4GB.

I checked if the memory is compatible with the ASROCK AB350M:
http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/ab350m/CT9996047
It is.
It has samsung chips on it : Samsung K4A4G085WE BCPB
I looked the datasheet up and it seems these are E dies.
But since agesa 1006 this memory should be fine i hope.

There is only one issue and that is the height of the module.
The cooler i have is a low profile but wide version and the ram might not fit under it.

But there seems to be a solution:

http://www.legitreviews.com/crucial-ballistix-elite-ddr4-16gb-2666mhz-memory-kit-review_157864

The real reason we are talking about the Ballistix Sport DDR4 though is due to the fact we wanted to show you the visual difference between the two colors. Obviously the heat spreaders are totally different, but so is the module height. The Ballistix Sport DDR4 stands 31.15mm and the Ballistix Elite DDR4 stands 40.75mm in height when both are measures at the middle of the module. This 9.6mm difference is fairly minor, but you can unscrew and remove the top rail on the Ballistix Elite DDR4 and bring the overall height down to 32.4mm if you needed to clear a CPU cooler or something like that in your case.
Read more at http://www.legitreviews.com/crucial...-memory-kit-review_157864#kdwPWe20t5htX5Dt.99

I looked for instruction manuals but i have not found any yet about removing the top rail from the ram module.
It seems the top rail is just screwed on the heatsink of module it self and the heatsink will remain in place even after removing the top rail. It is more for show than function.

Has anybody tried to take the top rail off ?
That would really help me out if that can be done.

The only thing that remains strange to me is that the crucial brand is owned by micron.
Maybe micron did not have high end ddr4 chips at the time and used samsung chips and now use their own chips.
I found the information on hardware.info.
https://us.hardware.info/product/35...x-elite-8gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-kit/specifications

But micron does now have faster ram modules.
If the ram modules are still single rank, they can be 4Gb from micron and the highest DDR4 of 512x8 configuration is at 1333MHz clocked @1.2V (2666MHz DDR4).
https://www.micron.com/parts/dram/ddr4-sdram/mt40a512m8rh-075e?pc={6BD1DB2E-A721-4109-8CE3-420A8A22E528}
This would fit the statement on the crucial site that the ram boots standard at 2666MT/s.
http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/ble2c4g4d32aeea
But for now it is just a guess.

I will just have to wait and see i guess.
If the ram will be reliable on 2933MHz i am already content with it.

It's really good RAM. Until I bought my kit around a month ago, I hadn't bought Micron RAM in over ten years. It runs flawless by just enabling XMP in the BIOS. I haven't tried overclocking it though, but mine runs at DDR4 3200 already. It has some serious heatsinks on it, and when it came and I picked up one of the modules, I realized it has some weight.

Ah thank you, that is surely reassuring.

Well, I waited long enough for memory that would never appear, so i changed my order this weekend.
I ordered the ballistix memory last december but changed it to g.skill ripjaws v this weekend.
The confirmation email arrived a bit late but the memory i ordered was already shipped to me as it turned out and i received it yesterday. I went for G.Skill memory. A 2x4GB RIPJAWS V kit. Product code is F4-3200C16D-8GVK : That is a samsung D-die according to reddit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/62vp2g/clearing_up_any_samsung_bdie_confusion_eg_on/
But i am happy that now finally i have ddr4 ram modules.

Hope you don't mind my asking this, but I'm trying to choose an 8GB RAM kit too (and am really confused how to read that reddit list).

How did you see that F4-3200C16D-8GVK is on the reddit list (since the exact F4-3200C16D-8GVK product code is not on the list) - is it that it should use the same IC as F4-3200C16D-16GVK (which is on the list), which is a 2 x 8GB kit with two dual-rank sticks, so the F4-3200C16D-8GVK should be a 2 x 4GB kit with two single-rank sticks? (Does it always work like this?)

Thanks.

It is not on the reddit list, but the 16GB is indeed. the timings are the same when looking at the jedec info. It is really my assumption that these are similar.
I have glanced at the modules at home without taking them out the sales package. I can see 8 chips on one side but i cannot see them on the other side, but i really have to have a closer look when i am properly ESD grounded.

When i finally have my new system up and running i will try and use thaiphoon burner to see what the specs are.

So how is it working for you?

I bought a Asrock AB350 Pro4 with a Ryzen 5 1600 yesterday at Micro Center but they didn't have any 3200 RAM. So this morning I ordered the exact same RAM as you, then found this thread an hour later. Hopefully your answer is "Perfectly!"

Thanks. It seems sometimes it's necessary to make some educated guesses with all this memory compatibility (though I'm definitely behind the curve compared to some of you on this forum).

I'm looking at F4-3200C16D-8GVKB for my build since it's on the mobo QVL (Asus PRIME B350-Plus). If that build works out I'll post in the Ryzen Builder's Thread as to what happened.

Whoa! And hold on there, Bro wchang99!

See if there aren't some TridentZ DDR4-3200's that will be compatible with that motherboard. There is a 14-14-14 latency flavor; others have CAS 15 or 16.

I realize that prices are high for all RAM, and that would still include the RipJaws V -- which are very good RAM, and probably have a 14-14-14 model. Compatible with AMD boards and chipsets? Maybe -- Maybe not. You'll have to investigate. I'm running my TridentZ G Skill F4-3200C14-16GTZ (two kits) at spec for a total of 4x8GB= 32GB. One thing to do would be to start with that model-spec, run the G.SKILL "configurator," and if you don't find your AMD board specifically, find a model that is close to it. For instance, G.SKILL didn't test or mention my Sabertooth Z170. ASUS has another model called something like "Z170 Deluxe" and possibly a "Pro" board. Anything that fit the latter, also fits the former. Facts plus inference yields reliable conclusions under some minimal uncertainty . . . . And they're not fake facts.

Thanks BonzaiDuck! Yeah, I agree that inference (with facts) can be a pretty good tool... I'm not really experienced with hardware when it comes down to it so maybe for me the facts and framework aren't always there.

Thanks for the help. I didn't know about the GSkill "configurator". I have noticed (maybe like you) that the QVL's and official lists are sometimes somewhat limited and every thing helps.

Sorry for the late reply.
To be honest, delayed the purchase of an ryzen 1600 because of the upcoming ryzen 2600.
I cannot tell you hoe well it works until May / June 2018.
But according to the Stilt, with latest bios update almost all memory modules should work fine with ryzen. What is your current experience with these modules ?

It works perfectly. I had to tell my motherboard they were 3200mhz as it initially called them 2400mhz, but once set in the BIOS I’ve not had so much as a hiccup. I haven’t tried overclocking but I might it some point.

Did you try memtest for at least 8 hours before booting into windows ?

Mine runs great as well but i prefer to run it at lower frequency. I am planning to sacrifice some memory latency performance for utmost stability.
I am going to run it at 2933MHz at more relaxed timings and lower voltage to reduce power consumption and increase reliability.
I increased the memory speed from 2133MHz to 2666MHz at 18,17,17,17,40 CR1 timings at 1.25V. Ran memtest for 10 hours non stop and no issues.
Very relaxed timings but i do not mind.
At this clock i have 1.5x the memory bandwidth in comparison to my old system. 41GB/s vs 26GB/sec.
Tonight i am going to increase the clock to 2933Mhz at 18,18,18,18,40 CR1 timings and start with 1.25V again.
Then i let memtest run for 10 hours again before i allow booting into windows.
After that, i am going to let it run for a few nights in a row with memtest to be sure there are no issues.
And run some stress tests to see if my pc is absolutely stable.

Then i can see if i can improve something with the ryzen timing checker from the stilt without sacrificing stability and reliability.
These are single rank modules according to ryzen timing checker.

Good times. ^_^.
