I got the DVDs for Christmas, just finished watching the first two episodes. I am throughly impressed. I cant wait to see the other 8. Too bad its only 10 episodes

Funny you should say that. I just finished watching the series for like the sixth time, and I still love it, still brings tears to my eyes.

Be sure to bust out the sixth DVD and watch the documentary as told by the actual soldiers.

I was fortunate enough to meet a WW2 vet last week, my bro's GF's grandfather. He was telling me all kinds of awesome stories about his time in the Philippines with the 1st Cavalry as an engineer, and how he served in the occupation of Japan. His troop ship was near U.S.S. Missouri during the ceasefire signing.

I got this bad boy recently, and had to finish watching the whole series within two days. It was that good. Simply a beautiful series, and the episodes dealing with the Holocaust really brought a tear to my eye. I could barely finish watching those.

Only up to part 6, but im totally loving Band of Brothers. Usually not my type of thing, but they did a great job. My grandfather is a WW2 vet and he doesnt talk much about it, but this gives me a good look into what his experience was like. Definately recommend!

Weird... my grandpa was in the SeaBees (Navy Engineers) and he said he could see the Missouri during the ceasefire too... Maybe they knew each other

I watched the series RELIGIOUSLY when it first aired. I would kick my wife out fo the living room, juice up the 5.1 surround , turn off the lights and just disappear. Tremendous mini-series. no doubt.
The ONLY downful I think was casting David Schwimmer in that roll. Why toss ONE hollywood name into it? It just didnt make sense to me nor did I like him in that roll (sorry David, but your Ross Gellar and nothing else). Other than that, it was truly flawless.

Its beyond a humbling experience to think what these men, and tens of thousands like them went through during that war, and to see and hear them tell the stories themselves, to weap and to smile... these have to be some of the bravest men to ever live, and some of the proudest.

I get goosebumps just thinking of the series, Saving Private Ryan etc etc... I know they are Hollywood glorifications of war, but hopefully, because of these men, thats the closest I, or my children or my grandchildren will ever have to get.
