Bands that you think didn't get the attention they deserved?

They've gotten radio play and all but I've always thought Sevendust is a lot better than people realize. Also, 2 Skinnee J's. Sevendust and 2SJ's are both easily in my top five favorite bands.

Concrete Blonde. Yes they've even had minor hits, but you they have a huge catalog of good songs that you've never heard unless you have the CDs. James Mankey is a very underrated guitar player -- I actually prefer his version of "Little Wing" (with vocals by lead singer Johnette Napolitano) to both SRV's and Jimi's.

Sh!t, zillions of them. For starters:

Mogwai
My Morning Jacket
Carissa's Wierd
Dntel (hell even with his work on The Postal Service he really goes relatively unnoticed)
Four Tet
Modest Mouse (Well, up until recently. They've become popular with their worst album though, and their earlier stuff still goes unnoticed)
Neutral Milk Hotel
Twilight Singers
Sunny Day Real Estate (with the popularity of whiny emo sh!t you would think they would be in everyone and their mother's cd player)
Built to Spill
and to top it off Nick Drake

Now these artist's are quite popular in their own little small (and sometimes not so small) markets, but with the exception of Modest Mouse (and only because they changed what it is that makes them Modest Mouse, no more desolate western soundscapes and musings of the makeup of the universe) most people have never and will never hear of them.

Even though they get some recognition I would add the shins and Ugly Casanova (nice username) to the list. Jack Braff is trying to change this but I still think that most people don't know who they are.

BtS is my fav. (i'm from Idaho)

I meant they didn't get the attention FROM ME they deserved, and that I didn't hear about them at all through any friends. I stopped watching MTV in 1992, and I hardly ever listen to the radio. So I'm not really gonna know the bands that a bunch of groupies and teenieboppers pee their pants over and which ones don't get said acclaim.

I didn't know that knowing every crappy little garage band in the world was a prerequisite for posting.

Not a band, but Ryan Adams doesn't get much attention. True, he can be a bit of an a$$ at times, but he's a pretty damn good lyricist and I've seen his albums show up on many "Top 10 of the Year" type lists.. Too bad his music is a bit slow. Maybe if it was more rock infused he'd get more mainstream airplay.

Just about everything I listen to should be more popular than it is...

Cursive
Fifteen
The Blood Brothers
Converge
Every Time I Die
Desaparecidos

Some of the best that are still together.

His newer stuff is kinda sucking tho. "Heartbreaker" was brilliant, "Gold" was good, and he just kinda went downhill from there.

How long has Nick been dead? That might contribute to his lack of recognition.

How about Graham Colton?
