Ok, here's my issue that I need help on. I have a 4 PC LAN setup at my house. We're on DSL but the throughput is only about 250 to 300 kps. I have a Linksys BERFS41 router connected to the DSL modem. In the evenings my son and I like to mess around with some on-line gaming. Specifically we play Everquest. (Any other Evercrack addicts out there?)
Typically as the evening wears on the wife gets on line on her PC. This is where the trouble starts. Everytime she starts surfing she ends up loading massive pictures or other heavy graphical pages like Ebay and such. The result is that my son and I experience some MASSIVE lag and packet loss. Sometimes as much as 40% packet loss. You can imagine what that does to us.
Anyway, is there anything I can do to her machine to limit the amount of our available bandwidth that it uses when others are on-line? I'd like to split it up 3 ways so she can only use up to one third of the bandwidth available or 100kps. Is this possible? If so, can someone either give me detailed instructions on how to do it, or point me to a website that gives detailed instructions?
Thanks!
Brazin
