Bannon wanted to treat Google and Facebook as public utilities and regulate the heck out of them.

Oh boy. Here we go down the rabbit hole of lies.

Go reconcile how an epi-pen can cost $700 in the United States, and $69 in Britain. Then explain why the United States' population should be footing the bill for drug research for the entire planet.

Nexium in the US? $215 per customer. In the Netherlands? $23.

Multiple studies shows that prices in the US for identical drugs are higher than in any other developed country in the world. Including places like Japan where the cost of living is obscene.

I hope the truth is that you don't understand what's really going on..... because if you DO understand how US customers are being raped right now and you're trying to support it through deception then you're just disgusting.

I'll wait for your well reasoned and well researched response.

You hit the nail on the head:

Why IS the United States' population footing the bill for drug research for the entire planet?

The answer is obvious: It is because our politicians are stupid enough to allow it to continue.

As an aside, pre-emptive name calling is not the way to get a "well reasoned and well researched resonse" from anyone.

Have you ever actually been on or used Facebook? It is plastered with propaganda from all sorts of directions, much of it paid ads which target you, the user, from your own demographics for the political gain of international corporations, the US gov, and foreign governments. You have no choice in the matter, also. You do not "get" to not be propagandized on FB. If you use it, you must see the ads and the ads choose you, not the other way around.

It is an orwellian nightmare of biblical proportions. 2 billion people ensnared so far. Including me

Honest question, what did your post have to do with mine?

Honest question, what did your post have to do with mine?

You discussed Facebook in your post and claimed it was normal for people to be getting their news from Facebook. I pointed out that Facebook "news" is in fact mostly propaganda and that the whole platform is geared towards the delivery of propaganda to its users.

What's so hard to understand?

Apparently what I said was hard for you to understand. Of 100% of Americans, 44% get "some" news not all their "news" from Facebook. That is to say that of the 44% of 100% that do get some news from Facebook, that not all of the news they get comes only from Facebook. The post I was responding to explains that of that 44%, they get it from Facebook and other major news outlets. I made no comment about the quality of Facebook. I simply explained that about half the people use Facebook and other sources, while the other half get no news at all from facebook. In no way should people believe that the 44% solely get their news from Facebook.

I also explained that some of the "news" they get is from others comments, and not adds. This happens in every day interactions as well. So unless we make it illegal to spread unvetted information, there is nothing to do on that front either.

Your comment did not fit anything I had talked about up to this post.

But Republicans believe in less regulation, small government!!!

Only when it benefits their cause.

Yes, the government needs to regulate them for our protection. They’re just looking out for us, that’s all..

Just because their friends regurgitate propaganda does not make it "news". You pretend that Facebook is a good news source because other people are typing things to you, but you fail to understand that those other people do not have the judgment to discern what is or is not propaganda.

In the end, you failed to understand what I was saying. It's ok, not everyone is good at reading. It is not surprising to me that you think Facebook is news and that 44% is a low number of people. You have shown yourself to be quite foolish in nearly every post you make. Maybe you should go back on Facebook to read more news?

Ignoring Bannon for a moment, the Facebook/Google/Twitter thing is a legitimate concern. They wield enormous power over individual citizens, who often have no recourse for redress when mistreated. And imagine Zuckerberg running for the office of president at some point in the future, which, I do not think, is not a far-fetched scenario, and how much power and advantage he would have against his opponents.

Stop. You are filling in things I did not say. At no point did I say Facebook was a good source of news. Never. Not once. Did not happen.

Also, you still seem to be having trouble with this. 44% get some News from Facebook, the 44% do not only get their News from Facebook. The reason for pointing that out is that it means at least people are getting News from other sources.

Slow down, take a breath, and read what I have said.

Agreed, I do not know the answer but they do need a reasonable amount of regulation to make it so they have *some* level of liability for *gross* misconduct.

Lol at righties now arguing that we need government control of industry. Their irony meters are not just broken, but completely disintegrated and the atoms scattered throughout the cosmos.
