My shower is plumbed to a vat of lye and a recirculating pump. I multitask by curing lutefisk in the tub.

I started using Dove body wash years ago, my wife buys it in bulk at Costco - non scented. I was notorious for running out of my bar soap and going weeks without having any soap and just showering. One day after wrenching on my truck for about 12 hours I stunk so bad I had to get clean, but had no soap - so I used the body wash. Been a repeat customer since then.

Yeah, make your jokes. It works well. Plus, it makes my skin smooth. :whiste:

That's my go-to also.

Cheap, doesn't make me smell like anything, and moisturizes pretty well.

Edit: LOL, just saw the post above.

Dial glycerin soap and nothing else.

Literally it is the best soap ever. Irish spring has pretty harsh fragrances IMO. Lever 2000 itself is kind of basic and leaves a film. Many of the fancy soaps are antibacterial so those are out because you don't need antibacterial bar soap for bathing. Antibacterial soap is like for your hands in the kitchen when you're cooking. Its not like I don't have or use any, I just don't use it for showers, that's stupid. Bar soap I find easier for hand washing as well.

Bar soap (usually Lever 2000). I've tried several liquids and it feels like there's a greasy film left on me afterward (moisturizers I guess).

Correct! Anything preserved with methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone is generally something of a mixture of hand moisturizer and soap in one which doesn't make any sense as the purpose of soap is to wash away oils not replace them with a shittier version of what you just washed off.

The preservatives are to keep the oils from spoiling, not really knocking the preservatives themselves. But I hate "creamy" soaps and this is how I tell if its a "creamy" soap. Very similar to "conditioner and shampoo in one!" products but its not really a replacement for shampoo, THEN conditioner. Not that I really like conditioner. That oily feeling. Isn't that why you took a shower to begin with? Yup. I suspect the way this stuff is formulated its no different than using a bottle of "conditioner + shampoo" as body wash. Ick.

I also don't like hand moisturizing dish soap, I just use basic blue Dawn. Its amazing.

Oh yes... freaking blue dawn and dial glycerin soap. I can't believe people use anything else.

You don't have to buy super expensive organic soap to get good quality soaps. Just stop buying all the "conditioner AND hand moisturizer AND invigorating menthol AND shampoo AND body wash" stuff.

Dunno, the suave stuff seems great to me, and I get get 2 of them for less than one bottle of the Dove.

I believe like half the shampoo aisle is all unilever products with different brands. Not to knock unilever, I love them.

I'm happy for you that you don't get excema or psoriasis. for most people, completely and totally stripping all the oils off your skin is generally a bad idea.

Dr Bronners.....good shit

Was going to post this. I have been using Dr Bronners peppermint soap since the 70's. Amazing soap, especially in hot weather. It has the same effect on your body as when you have a mint in your mouth and exhale. It's very potent, so a small bottle lasts me close to a year. The label is an interesting read too. One warning though, don't get any in your eyes. It really stings.

No you are!
heh

On a side note, I used to use Kirks too.

Might pick some up again soon.

My grandmother used to make some homemade Pine Tar things, drawing salve for splinters ad soap even as my Grandfather was a toolmaker also and would get metal splinters in hands also.

human skin produces sebum to protect the skin from drying out. stripping that sebum causes the skin to dry out.

how is this difficult to follow? the purpose of showering is to remove dirt, not strip off all the skin's oil.
