BARACK OBAMA: ...When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what's in them and nobody has read them.

RANDI RHODES: 14 pounds it was!

BARACK OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate then these kinds of things happen. And I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean you remember that there was no real debate about that. It was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

Remember folks - all statements made by BHO have a expiration date attached to them. ALL OF THEM.

Mr Obama is no longer in Congress.

I don't believe that anyone claimed otherwise.

It'd have to be implied though in order for hypocrisy to attach, no?

Imagine that! A political party that actually reads things over as opposed to just passing every POS that comes up for vote just because their fearless leader said so. This is just one difference between the dems and the GOP sheep. The blind following the blind here just look like fools when they complain about it. Bahhhhh

Yawn. Maybe a conservative can beat some sense into you:

http://www.newmajority.com/quit-whining-2/

It?s despotism when we lose, freedom when we win. We should have more confidence in the people and the country than this. We should also have more charity to our political opponents ? who after all are contending with hideous problems bequeathed to them by ? by ? well suddenly we Republicans cannot seem to remember who preceded Barack Obama in office. To listen to us, you?d think that the bailouts and takeovers started on January 20, 2009, not the previous March. You?d never know that TARP was supported by almost every Republican commentator, including the editors of National Review. Or that Vice President Cheney argued urgently in favor of the rescue of the Detroit automakers. Or that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac enjoyed the backing of Republican as well as Democratic lawmakers.

One bad election converts us from ardent admirers of the American people to glum declinists who can see only a miserable moldering of a once great nation. I should have thought that conservative patriotism was made of stronger stuff.

Agreed. Remember Bush á la 2000? Compare to any other year of his presidency. Hypocracy: check! The only difference is that Obama is at least doing something that people agree with instead of riding the 9/11 legislative gravy train.

The entire hypothesis of this thread is based on a false assumption. Its all well and fine to talk about a newly minted Senator being able to be idealistic. And quite another thing to talk about Obama when he is a newly minted President, who has had the entire failures of the GWB Presidency dumped on him like the load of stinking garbage it is.

And now instead of being free to be idealistic, Obama is suddenly confronted with the responsibility of fixing the overall mess while putting out the numerous fires. Meanwhile Liberal dump on him for not being liberal enough, bluedog democrats dump on him for being too liberal, and the entire GOP is against Obama what ever he does.

And because Obama actually believes in the constitution, he is not free to use the back door policies practiced by GWB and has to work with congress. I think that as present adn future Obama policies start to have an effect, things will gradually get better, and to some extent, the GOP will be in for a rude awakening, as they discover, yet again, that as democratic support and Obama support wanes, none of that missing support translates into increased GOP support.

Exactly. Unless the OP has been hiding in a cave, it would be impossible to miss the very intense and lengthy discussions and debates that have been saturating the public spotlight for weeks (compared to PATRIOT [sic] which had virtually no review or debate). OP fails.

It pisses you off, good

Mission Accomplished.

so for the same things you bashed bush on, for the same stupid political ploys in order to stay in power, for the same stupid ways to game the system, you applaud one, and you boo the other, yet the very same movie was played in front of you just with different actors...

This is Dave McOwned you're referring to -- here to troll and provide sound bites, no real feedback or information.

Yes sir, times change.
Just like Rahm Emanuel said, ?Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste,?
Back at the start of the Iraq war, I would complain to my republican friends about Halliburton and no bid contracts, about the Patriot Act undoing the constitution, and I would get told that it was a crisis time, we needed extra ordinary measures. Then came the bank bailouts, and I read posts in here about extra ordinary times require extra ordinary measures. So, the game plan of both parties in the future will be to ensure that times are never ordinary again.

Do you honestly feel good about yourself when you spit out hyperbole like that? I don't know... if I knew I was as hyper-partisan as you, I would have a hard time sleeping at night. Somebody who defends his team as ferociously as yourself at the expense of better reason and *reality* must feel very hollow at the end of the day.
