Barebones Ultrabook

Hi Everyone,
I need a new laptop and I am interested in the thin formfactor of the ultrabooks. I am particularly fond of the Zenbook by Asus. I have a laptop that is about a year old with a core i5 processor and about 4 gigs of ram. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a barbones ultrabook so that I can save some $$$ and use my processor and memory.

Hello cr8myf8, and welcome to AnandTech forums.

Barebones notebooks are super rare to begin with, but even if some company started selling ultrabook notebooks, you would not be able to use your CPU in it for two reasons.

First is that all the ultrabooks use the second generation core series, which uses a totally different chipset.

Second is that very likely the ultrabooks use soldered in CPUs, not socketed CPUs.
