Bonds is going down with this. The gov't rarely brings perjury charges unless the fed. prosecutor is damned sure the charges will stick. Just heard the gov't says they have a positive urine test for steroids on Bonds from Balco. He's going down.

It's not a matter of whether or not he took steroids or not, it's if he lied about it..so a urine test would be irrelevant.

Why would it be irrelevant? Bonds flatly stated he never took steroids.....a positive urine test for steroids is a rather smoking gun proving he lied. I personally think this piece of evidence is rather damning.
In another development, ESPN just announced a federal judge just ordered the release of Gary Anderson, Bonds' personal trainer who'd been in jail for months and months for refusing to testify against Bonds.
Hmmmmmmm...........

Why does everyone hate this guy?
He took steroids, so what? I am not a fan of baseball but I am assuming there is much more to it than that. Is the guy a big ahole?
Yeah pretty much. There have been countless names leaked that have admitted to taking steroids, many of whom have lied on front of Congress themselves, but none of them were chasing a HR record, or had the attitude of Bonds..

I'd add that most people are sick of these cheating ball players. Steriods is cheating. I mean if you don't mind your game full of a bunch of cheats that's your thing I guess. Plus the little kids will think it's cool to juice up.
If Balco administered it, it's yet another piece of evidence to show that he was so knee deep in Conte's program that it's implausible to think he didn't know what was going on. Even better if there's a record of him signing consent for such a test.Originally posted by: Syringer

He should be first ballot HOF, but I get the feeling that's in serious doubt now. A lot of writers are going to make it a point to punish him.Originally posted by: BrokenVisage
Hate to break it to the clueless, conformist haters of ATOT, but his records will stand and he'll be a first ballot HOF'er regardless of this.
<-- not a Bonds fan in the least, but a Bonds-hater hater

It's still up to the commissioner first to lift his lifetime ban. And neither Pete Rose nor Barry Bonds deserves to be in the hall of fame so long as Shoeless Joe Jackson is still banned for life (and after-life). There you have someone who was acquitted of all charges and still banned for life.Originally posted by: rockyct
Nope, Pete Rose is not in the hall of fame and I think it's now up to the players to vote him in.

except bonds testified under oath that he never took them
i think the test would prove he committed perjury

Okay I'll say it one more time: he said he never knowingly took them. Knowingly, being purposely, with intent, etc..

It's also an issue of why he's being singled out, as no one pays half a mind to the dozens of names that have come out regarding these pharmacies that they've gotten "prescriptions" from. Why don't people care about Gary Matthews, Jason Giambi, etc?

Agreed 100% Hank Aaron was the man. Back then they did it without all the chemicals they have today. Bonds should be ashamed of himself..
