I'm assuming you're using the logic that the human eye cannot see more than 30 frames per second. That's true, however... CRT's don't refresh the screen all at once... they scan from top to bottom, left to right... that's where the flicker comes from at low refresh rates. If the whole screen was refreshing, like an LCD, that can change the whole screen at once, and doesn't "scan"... and also only changes the pixels that need to be changed, then you probably would not notice it very much. But the vast majority of computers users still use CRT's. I'll bet my life that I can tell you the difference between 30 fps and 85 fps.
