Barton Core Heat

Hello

I have just brought a 2800+ Barton Core with Coolermaster CP5-8JD1F-0L, I think it runs a little hot 48C & on load 56C (not overclocked), where as my 2000+ only runs at 38C on ldle and 42C on load (not overclocked) the 2000+ has a Thoroughbred core in a Shuttle SN41G2, so does the core make a large difference in temps?

Also I am planning to but an AOpen XC Cube nForce2 White SFF, will the 2800+ be to hot for it?

Yes, the core makes a difference in how much heat can be dissipated. Since a Barton's core is almost twice as big as a T-bred's core, they usually run a little cooler. It sounds to me that maybe you should put the XP2800 in the box that the 2000 is in, and put the 2000 in the SFF box. Of course, you could always buy the sff box first, and try it out, but that might be an expensive mistake! Well, you could always sell it on the forums here, and get most of what you paid for it back, I guess.

well the 2000 is in a sn41g2 box, so i would have to sell the 2800 barton. I was thinking of buying a 2700 T-bred core? That would not be as hot and still would be over 2Ghz ?

Actually, the XP2700 is the hottest of all of the XP's. Barton=cooler, T-bred=hotter, fastest T-bred=hottest. You can warm your hands by a box that they're in, like a fire. It sounds like you need a better heatsink, some Arctic Silver paste, and MAYBE an 80mm fan blowing in from the side, but it all depends on what kind of case flow you have now.
