Well the non barton 2800 can sometimes beat the 3000 barton but its 2.25 not 2.13 like the 2600

Look at the WCPUID. It clearly states it is a AthlonXP 2600+. It is within the tolerances for operating frequencies for that chip. Not all motherboards produce the same actual FSB for the same selected FSB. Mine goes over a bit and with that 11.5 multiplier the fraction of a MHz adds up quick.

And I'm no liar :|

Actually the price performance of the 2600/2700 arent that great. The 2400 price/performance is good but at the 2600/2700 Intel is better being both cheaper and having better performance.

Dang, I just looked at NewEgg and you are right. I wonder why my chip POSTs as a 2600+? And even still, as a 2700+ with half the L2 cache, that is still very impressive IMO, not IMHO.

Also, when my CPU POSTs at 2.25GHz it should register as an 2800+ chip but it doesn't. I wonder why?

Wow never realized how much Barton sucked untill now, it seems to struggle to keep up with its own 2800 let alone the 3.06

One can hope though. You know, I use the latest BIOS code for my board too so it's not like the chips are newer than the BIOS.

So anyways, with a revised claim that my AthlonXP 2100+ at 2700+ speeds is faster than a Barton 3000+ in most SiSoft Sandra 2003 tests I have run, I'll make my stand.

Better than mine. I have a pretty decent system but only a geforce2 ultra in it its a major bottleneck in benching but honestly I can play all my games well so doesnt matter to me......must hold out till i can get a $250 9700 Pro in a while.

the barton I would say is a better chip overall than the thoroughbred B, just because it doesn't "keep up" in gaming and synthetic benchmarks w/ an oc'ed chip, I wold still rather have the extra cache, even if it costs me extra cash.

but don't get me wrong the thoroughbred B is a bad muther fuker, and it will prolly go down in history as one of the greats for OC'ing like the Celeron 300a.

I would just personally rather have a barton 2500+ than a thoroughbred B 2600+, my personal preference/opinion. Cache is a good thing, not just a gimmic.
