He'd never make it in hockey. We gave the teams hell for the Frozen four in Detroit this year. Add to the rants against the goalie and players we do for average games, he would whine the entire game.

"Hey ref, they're calling me a sieve and I'm NOT. Make them stop!"

What a woman.

Personally, I don't get why people taunt professional athletes at sporting events. How would you like it if you're at your computer at work and a bunch of strangers are standing nearby yelling things at you all day?

If someone wanted to pay me millions to sun myself while getting occasionally yelled at a couple hours a day, I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

They believe they're helping the team by being an annoying distraction. Most players handle it fine (they're paid well enough) and most fans don't care (they're just trying to enjoy the game). Thus, when the occasional drunk tries it, nobody joins in. However, when someone like Upton is in that time of the month when he's sensitive, that sends the signal to everyone in the centerfield that it does bother him.

Fans: 1
Upton: 0

I'm a Rays fan, so I appreciate how he helps the team, but little things like this make me shake my head.

Meh, I once ragged on Derek Jeter at a Yankee game and he shouted to me "f-ck you."
One of my favorite memories. lol

Probably to mock him that his name is Bossman. That's a dumbass name btw. Imagine reading this kid's application for a job. Full name: BOSSMAN JUNIOR UPTON, Nickname: BJ. I'd be calling all my coworkers in and we'd have a good laugh about it and then shred his application.

Bossman Junior is not his real name. It is Melvin Emmanuel. BJ Upton sounds much better.

I don't think you sitting at your PC all day qualifies as the type of entertainment people would pay money to see.

Or maybe it does.

I don't see why fans have to badger the players, anyway. It wouldn't bother me one bit and, if I could get away with badgering the fans right back I'd do that. However, I'd understand a player complaining and get them kicked out just on principle.

Yeah, I don't like it either. I think it's totally classless. Other people are there to enjoy the game and don't really want to hear you yelling the entire time. People are incredibly inconsiderate.

That is kind of sad that he complained to the Umpire etc. It happens all the time, most players just zone it out and don't even realize it.

Reminds me of when I was in college and went to hockey games. Our entire student section would search through the pamphlet with players names, find one that we didn't like, and for the whole game that guy would be the only person heckled. Was great having an entire section ragging on one player. It also helped that 85% of the student section was wasted.

Waaaaahhhhhhhhhh. Upton should just quit pro sports if he can't handle a little heckling. The cops show up? Jesus, surprised they didn't taze/beat down the fans to get them to stop.

Vince Carter gets a good ear when he comes home to Toronto, but it makes him play better.

Everytime he touches the ball nonstop booing, when he misses cheering...

LETS GO RAPTORS, VC SUCKS is the normal chant

Can't hate on Vince, he's a great player, I like both his style and demeanor (seems to stay out of the spotlight and just plays basketball, and I like that).

this. sports fans can be real dicks sometimes. i was at a few college basketball games at my school and i felt ashamed.

it's like "really? THIS is how you want people to see our school?" it was quite sad. i wanted to strangle my own "classmates" if you could call them that. they were being completely disrespectful and utterly classless.

i wanted to enjoy the game but couldn't. i felt like apologizing to the opposing team's fans for all of the shit they went through. (and go figure we got our asses handed to us to boot. lost by 30pts)

Agreed. I've been to a bunch of professional baseball games, hockey games, football games, and basketball games and, as a fan, there is nothing worse than sitting next to some drunk asshole who yells at the players throughout the entire game. I don't care if he's yelling at players on the opposing team or not. It is rude and obnoxious and I would be very happy if security escorted every last one of them out with a shoe up the ass.

The constant taunting of players is pretty annoying unless they did something dastardly to deserve it. Even then, cheering for your players is about ten times as fun and classy as booing for the others.

It's funny for the first couple minutes, if it's particularly clever then longer.

But the whole game it gets pretty annoying.

If it is truly funny and not just obnoxious, drunken screaming, then I'm fine with it.

I yell things like "Hey, CRAWFORD! Tell your mom her scrambled eggs are dry and overcooked!"

I whipped that one out once and a lady in front of me turned around 10 seconds later and said "Are you insinuating that you've slept with his mother and she cooked you breakfast?" I said "yeah" and her response was "Oh, Okay, that's funny."

Romero was so close to a no hitter last night. I felt bad for him after that two run homer in the 8th. Especially since that guy faked like he was hit to get on base.

You hire based on how the name sounds?

Absolutely. I'd hire someone named John Smith over someone named LUNG DICK JOHNSON any day of the week. If you have a stupid ass name like BOSSMAN, no way you're getting hired. It's a good thing "Bossman" can play baseball and adopted the nickname "BJ". That's just embarassing. His parents must have really disliked him.

Guess you didn't know a whole lot about his time in Toronto and the circumstances of his departure :hmm:

I don't follow basketball but almost every Raptor fan has a grudge against VC

So you are one of those people who thinks that by paying for a ticket it gives you the right to act like an asshole to other human beings.
