That thermaltake psu is not bad for a low end system, it will get the job done. Look at this build on this thread:

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2058934&enterthread=y

Less than 300 bucks for dual core cpu. motherboard, graphics card, 2gb of ram, and psu. As far as hard drive goes just get a decent size western digital and you will be good to go. Ohh also pick up an LG dvd burner for around 30 bucks as well.

If you want to build her a micro atx setup this is a good matx mobo for am2:

He doesnt really need an opty 165, an X2 3600 or 3800 AM2 would be more than enough for his needs.

Heh, yeah I was thinking that too, was having some issues remembering how to create links again. That's a nice price on a corsair 2GB kit too.
I also went with a motherboard with onboard video, unless you are gaming, it works great. It's what i'm using in my pc at work, and on a storage box at home.

yeah gonna need on board video. I was looking at am2 motherboards on newegg and it seems like all of them are micro ATX. Can i use a micro ATX in mid tower ATX case. Will everything line up right or am i gonna have problems?

If you notice that mobo has been discontinued by abit and no longer offers support in term of bios updates and the such. Also it only has 1 IDE channel. You are better off getting the biostar. Also if your budget is 700 bucks why not go for the 7600gt. Way better video card and you will still be under budget.

Why not just get a Dell, if it is only for budget non-gaming system? There's a system for $280 with the 3600+ cpu, but without windows. Check the Hot Deals forum.

if i were u i wouldn't get the thermaltake PSU, they tend to be crap out and/or get loud. go with a seasonic 430watt and it'll be much more quiet and stable for your system, i think even a seasonic 330 watt psu will work.

that mobo has integrated graphics?
