I am hesitating between basic mouse or gaming mouse.

What is a the best choice :

Logitech b-100 is it a good basic mouse ?

I am not a extrem gamer. I will play sometimes.

Is it very important to have a gaming mouse ?

Can I buy more later a controler pad or Joystick ?

Many pro gamers prefer optical mice with relatively low DPI. This gives them better control. Almost any optical mouse can produce a decent gaming experience, it just wont come with some of the more advanced features like switching the DPI on the fly or the additional buttons.

Just got general use though I would find a mouse with a back button on the side, it is good for gaming and more importantly its good for web browsing.

Gamers that prefer low dpi mice because cs 1.6 bugs out over 800 dpi. http://www.esreality.com/post/2024663/mouses-using-flawless-sensors/ is a good start to find mice with good sensors, which you want if you game online. especially fps. Some good tips here that will save you some €.

1. Is aiming in game too coarse? Then you need higher DPI.
2. Are quick movement being skipped (often referred to as, "negative acceleration")? If so, you need a mouse with a good sensor/firmware/driver for gaming.
3. Is not being able to arbitrarily remap button actions in some applications (even non-games) annoying? You need special software.
4. Don't like the feel of the small symmetrical mice everything comes with, these days? Find one with a shape that works for you.

There's nothing at all wrong with a plain jane OEM mouse (well, IMO, Gateway's are absolute trash, but aside from that...), as long as it works for you. Many gaming mice are indeed superior, and not only for gaming (gaming mice are popular choices for CAD users, both for the DPI and the configuration software, along with trackballs, and more funky many-axis stick-type input devices), but it's only worth it for you if you would take advantage of it.

Logitech's G400 should be available B&M. If you want to try a good gaming mouse out, it would be hard to find a better starting point, to sate your curiosity (not that I'm a biased Logtech fanboy, or anything...). If you like it, keep it, if not return it and get your money back, or return it and start finding others that do what you might want better.

I use a logitech G400 and like it rather a lot. Had an MS Intellimouse Explorer, various razer mice etc. Like the logitech best.

Another vote for the G400. Recently I've been through a Sensei which I didn't like, another Deathadder which also died within a month and a Storm Spawn. I just wish I had bought the G400 earlier.

For me, it's the best mouse on the market and the price is very good. I could of bought 3 G400's for the price I paid for the Sensei.

G400. I switched from my MX500 to a G400 last year, and still enjoying that shape for casual/gaming usage. For prolonged usage, something more ergonomic is probably in my future.

Aaaaaand another vote for the G400! It's my first gaming mouse. Before that generic Logitechs. A big difference. Now I only wish it had more buttons.

I don't mind having fewer buttons, it's easier for me I guess to not accidently press something I did not intend. Having a hundred buttons makes it rather difficult sometimes lol.

I have found that mice with programmable memory or firmware profiles etc cause lots of headaches.

My MX Revo is on it's way out, any recommendations? I have large hands, thumb rest is a must.

I upgraded from an MX Revo to the G700 about a year ago; it's absolutely stellar.

The G700 is shaped almost exactly like the MX Revolution (in the same ergonomic lineage as the MX1000 and Precision MX), but doesn't have the awkward alt-tab wheel on the side. Instead, it has four thumb-buttons high up on the left side, a replaceable rechargeable battery, and an optional USB cord for communication and charging.

The MX Revo tended to accumulate corrosion and grime on the contacts which it uses for charging... The G700 does not have this problem.

Thanks, now I know what to get.

I was considering Logitech b100 and m100 due to their smaller size, I had much better grip and mobility with the smaller shape/size.

IMHO most gaming mice are simply too large and obtrusive, lots of pointless features and do not provide optimal grip/mobility. (Used Rat7=8 months, Imperator=1year, Orochi=30days, G9x=30days)

I ended up with the Kinzu, while build quality is not great and there is some acceleration, it is the only mouse that actually fits my hand properly while also having on the fly dpi switching. The combination of better grip and extremely light weight has measurably improved my performance in Battlefield 3.

Sensors, features, grip type, software, dpi, polling rate, its all bullshit. A mouse is a tool, get one that fits your hand properly, find your optimal sensitivity in your chosen game and you will be happy.

Just got a G400 this morning. Liking it quite a lot.
I've used and loved the original MX518 and then I changed to a G5. Never liked the G5 a huge amount due to the laser skipping so went for this. £24 on OC.UK and it's as nice feel, nice shape and is optical which I think I now prefer over laser. I'm a keen CSS/GO player and I find it a pleasure to use.

Seen a few Razer mice in action and they always just seem gimmicky and cheap. Steelseries look good but too expensive for what you get.I have been tempted for a while to buy one, though. Anyway, I'm happy with the G400. I'd recommend it.

Been using the G700 for 3 days now. First few hours were hard after 5 years with the MX but I'm getting used to it and liking it a lot already.

I did what you did. Went from MX to the G700 and it felt strange, but now it fits like a glove and is an extension of my wrist. Sickest damn mouse ever.

I switched from a basic optical mouse to a Logitech G9x about a year ago. I am not a pro gamer by any means, but for me this mouse was a huge improvement for gaming. No doubt the G700 is a good mouse as well, but I use a claw grip (rather than palm grip) on my mouse which I found the G9x was much more comfortable for.
