Basic setup help

Just ordered the jamo 5pc set from amazon based on some posts around here and reviews.

I have a boston acoustic sub and Yamaha rx-v673 receiver. Should be a huge upgrade over my Panasonic surround speakers from a box set. I'm going to hook them up with some 14awg wire as well. I just use it for movies and games so wonder if I should grab anything else. A second sub? Hook up 2 more speakers since I have plenty of Panasonic bookshelf speakers? Or just stick with the basic 5.1 setup? The room is prob 15*15 with an opening on one side to the kitchen. Hardwood floors throughout. I will eventually upgrade but want something better than my poor setup right now since I already had my receiver. Any recommendations?

If you can place another two speakers, go for it. It can't hurt. If the yamaha does front height or wides that sometimes makes more of a difference than rear surrounds.

I'd hold off on getting another sub until you can afford a really good one. No sense putting more money into "sub"par subs.

Yea. My plan will be to piece together my better setup one piece at a time. Of course deciding on a brand is like trying to find just the right porn. Way too many options out there

Hello getting low or no sound out of my sub woofers .I have a Pioneer Elite Receiver VSX 59 TXI and the subs that I have tried to use are Polk LSI 25 or MK VX 7 MARK 2 and a Pinnacle Baby Boomer , I used the on screen display to set the speakers up , I set to many options to small all to front large to sub woofer yes then to subwoofer yes plus , but to no avail very low sound out of the sub or no sound , when I use the manual set up to adjust the woofer it works , I can make it loud , but when I play music or a movie very little sound , I use a Sony play station 3 and also the Verizon Fios cable set top box when renting movies or regular movies still the same problem . The receiver has two sub outs 1 and 2 I tried bought . I have set the sub woofers to full volume still the same and checked the polarity still the same the rest of the speakers are great. I have read that some problems was cured buy putting a splitter in the cable then it worked if this is true can someone send the simple schematic on how ii is done and instructions, any help will be appreciated.;

How is everything hooked up, from the source devices to the receiver to the TV? It seems like there's something off in your basic set up if you're not getting audio.
