Basic wiring question.

Well, I picked up one of these from a construction site for almost nothing and wanted to mount it in my garage for some serious light. However, I need to figure out how to wire this bad boy. Anyone good with this kind of stuff? We have a white, black and green wire. I was told this ballast can be set for 120, 240 etc. I guess I need to figure out which it's on, and or how to switch it, which type of plug I need, and the best way to attach them together! If I can't get er working, I'm out only $25. ^_^ Thanks guys.

Thought about it some more. Is the light and socket all in the box?

In that case you just need to hook it up to a power source. Green is ground. I dont beleive the other two matter.

Can you verify the ballast is already set for 120v?

I can not tell what it's set to. =/ I was going to guess that white is lead black is neutral and green is ground. Thanks

Anyway.. If you don't know what it was wired up to originally, you're going to have to open the ballast and see.

You can assume it's 120V, though.. and just try and plug it in.

Those are just the power wires. Green is ground.

There should be internal wiring beneath the peckerhead that you can change to suit specific voltages.
There should also be a written diagram embossed somewhere.
Do a little recon on the fixture and you'll likely get your answer.

There should be a wiring diagram on the inside of the cover. I recommend wiring it for 240v, you don't want to overload any breakers. However, it should work fine at 120v, just make sure the cable you buy is suffecient.
