I tested out the second unit I got. runs perfectly as well. ran 20min occt on it. so it's 2 for 2 for me. couldn't be happier, except maybe the lack of splitable 8 pin but that's not much problem for my board which uses eps.

Where can one find a PSU tester? Is that easier than digging out a motherboard & setting it up?

Mine is a pretty old Antec model, just a 20-pin connector with all its wires going into a black block which has one green LED on it. PC Power & Cooling recommends that you also connect two hard drives before testing. I hook everything up, turn on the psu switch, let it run for a minute, then check voltages with a multimeter. There are several models available from different manufacturers.

Ten's the lucky number. They come packaged as they did from the manufacturer. Not great, but certainly not like people here are seeing.

I got mine (qty5). Was shipped in the master box. Each PSU just had a plastic bag around it. Some air bags partially filling empty spaces. Terrible. Still, units look unblemished.

You basically need to run it and test voltages. Ideally you do it under load as well, because I've encountered MANY power supplies that those cheap testers "passed" but the units were still faulty in that they couldn't hold voltages steady once a real load was applied. One machine I worked on was pretty flawless until a game was started up. Power draw from the wall went up from around 200W to 300W and +12v went from around 11.8v to 10.8v.

I think they really screwed up their pricing. I heard through the grapevine that they got a sweet price due to something or other, and they probably just put their usual markup on it without realizing that these things normally go for around $60.

Heck, if the deal was offered to me, I'd buy the whole shipment... and go into business for a while selling these things. Can probably sell them for $30 each and still make bank! :Q

zap: yes I was wondering about this price as well. I think maybe enhance made a pricing error to geeks.com and they just unknowingly passed on the "savings" to us. they must have bought them for less than $10 a piece for them to turn a profit. I doubt you can sell them as high as $60 now because bigger models are coming out everywhere, I originally got one for $75 from ewiz years back. But at $20 a piece these are just incredible bargains considering performance.

seeing as the high priced ones have splittable 20+4 atx and 4+4 aux12v , its obvious these fixed 24 & 8pin connector ones were oem special makes that were cancelled on or overproduced. Not liking the 90day warranty but got 6 anyway. If they had been at least 1yr warranty I would have bought more...

This sounds plausible. It certainly is... odd to make non- +4 plugs these days.

I got mine today (despite still not listed as 'picked up on Fed Ex's website). Large box with some empty plastic bags around the PSU to make sure the finish doesn't get marked up when the PSU jostles around the box.

Now we just have to wait for my 8pin to 4 pin adapter

I did some efficiency testing on the second enhance I got, found that is wasn't as efficient as the first one. here's the result:
orginal EW500: 65W idle, 120W load OCCT
enhance#1: 60W idle, 100W load OCCT
enhance#2: 63W idle, 113W load OCCT

I am surprised as to how different the second enhance performed to the 1st. double checked the result still the same. I expect a few W of difference but not 13W. Can someone ordered more than one PSU do a simialar efficiency test and report back your result?

Did they both have the same version number listed on the side?

I would just cut it apart.

Still did better than the EarthWatts, which is also 80+.

OK....my two arrived safe, although poorly packed.

Both NON-splitable 8/24 power connectors, v.4 version.

They have a TON of connectors, and are HEAVY.

Thanks OP

OK, I just unplug the original Antec NeoHE 380 power supply and put this Enhance on to see if it works fine. Here is what I found out:

- The 8pin (non-splitable) cpu plug does work fine natively into the 4pin mother board (in my case Gigabyte MA78G-DS3H). As the other dude says, as long as your motherboard is clear around the 4pin socket and have space for the outside 4pins, you are good to go.

- The Enhance is quieter than the NeoHE380 and comparable to my Seasonic S12 430 (the older model).

- Feels solid and looks good. The build quality is top notch. Obviously better than the Antec EA, NeoPower series. I like these more than my Corsair TX series.

My only concern is that the the 2 PCIE 6pin plugs are in one rail, not sure if this is a good choice for some power hungry cards (4890 or GTX285). You would hope it draw current from two different rails to be on the safe side.

Well, so far I am very satisfied with this power supply's quality, except for the worst packing I have ever seen from the geeks.

Tip the scales at over five pounds apiece. The wiring feels heavy, and turns out to have lots of 16 gauge mixed in with the usual 18 gauge conductors.

I'd say this is the best sub-$20 psu when compared to past deals for Cooler Master RealPower, CM Extreme Power 550, FSP BlueStormII, OCZ StealthXtreme 500, Antec 380, or those free AR Ultra 500W units. Seems I've bought into all of the budget PSU deals.

Oddball shipping worked out to be no slower than UPS ground would have been, going from California to the east coast (cost $13 for two). These things should have been boxed within a box, or rolled up in some strong bubblewrap, or cardboard. Too heavy for rolling around loose with air pack pillows. Luckily mine appear to be ok.

I got mine in today, it was horrible packing. The psu was inside a box 6" larger than it on every side, the (2) bubble packs they put in had popped and it was mainly being protected by the invoice. A little bent on the corner, but hopefully it will work fine. Had I known it was going to be like this, maybe I wouldnt have bothered.

Just got mine in. Horrible packaging. Fortunately, the unit is in perfect condition. Haven't tested it yet. I have a 430W EarthWatts in my secondary rig - X2 5600+ @ 3.1, 2x1GB @ 440Mhz, 4 HDDs, 2 Optical drives, 7900GS @ 606/900, PCI TV Tuner. Do you think it's worth swapping for this Enhance?

Got my 2 PSUs today. Packing is basically crap. HUGE xbox box, PSUs flying about with a few pillows in-between.
No scratches/dents though.

Mine have the 8-pin *AND* a 4-pin m/b 12V connector. The 8-pin does not split, rather there's an extra 4-pin. The 24-pin connector is one solid piece.

PSUs are pretty darn heavy. Nice cable lengths and connector configuration. I'll like this, what a deal. Thanks again to the OP who should have purchased all of them and opened a PSU store. I'm happy to have gotten into a smokin' hot deal for once.

Yeah I got the same style PSUs as hansmuff. Anyways so far so good on one of the PSUs that I've tested. I wonder if I should switch out my Antec NeoPower 550 for the other unused one.
