Great find!

Love buying quality for the price of crap, and it is even better when no rebates are needed.

Good timing too. I had been looking for something else to buy there, since Geeks shipping doesn't go up to fast when you add more junk.

Wow, awesome! Thanks OP.

I was looking for a 500W PSU for my girlfriends new computer, great timing this is!

I'm in for 2, 1 for her new computer, and 1 spare.

From that review:
"Unlike most power supplies that feature a 24-pin connector with a breakaway 4-pin or a pair of 4-pin connectors that combine to make an 8-pin,the Element only has a 24-pin and an 8-pin. Adapters are included (see below photo) so the power supply can be used in 20-pin motherboards or boards that only require a 4-pin connector for CPU power."

So this PSU DOES NOT include a 4-pin ATX12V, or even a 4+4 ATX12V. It's an 8-pin only affair, and requires an additional cable adaptor to use with a 4-pin ATX12V mobo. Which, I'm sure (knowing Geeks), is NOT included.

Edit: Btw, in for ten. $170.90 shipped to MA.

Edit: Found a cable adaptor here . $5.99 + ship at NewEgg. Goes 4-to-8 or 8-to-4, same cable.

Can anyone find 8-to-4 adaptors cheaper than this?

Actually, that may be a case where the Silverstone is different from the Enhance. I have the latter and I believe it's a 4+4, though I haven't opened up my case in a while and am in a different state ATM.

Only $8 shipping for me, so with coupon code it would have been $21.49 shipped. However my order won't go through. I tried paying with CC and with PayPal and the sale fell through in both cases...

Edit: OK, I was able to complete the sale - $21.49 shipped using the coupon code (I've never used cashback yet, so didn't bother). To make the deal go through, I had to due the normal secure checkout, as if paying by CC. They I paid by Paypal towards the end of the sale (as opposed to paying by paypal from the beginning).

Thanks to the OP for making me spend more money. I don't even need this, but it's good to have a spare around. I've used 8-pin connectors on 4-pin motherboards before - the connector just hangs over on one side. It works, if you have the room around the connector. You can also cut off the 4-pin connector from an old or dead power supply and splice it in. They also make 12V molex to 4-pin adapters that work fine. The 8-pin only connector shouldn't stop anyone from using this PSU - you just need to get 12V + ground to 2 pins - not too difficult.

^^^ Maybe I will try 1 first. not sure if I want 2 psu's sitting here on my desk with a mess of wires to make sure its stable, lol. But thats always an option I guess;

I have used one of these psu's in the past. quality on wiring isnt the greatest, but according to jonny guru, these are one hell of a psu in the 500w class!

EDIT: I went to evga's site; they require at least a 550w (40A) psu for one card; so how does it work for 2 cards NOT in sli? I wouldnt need a 1kw psu would I?

I've been waiting on a good PSU deal and this fits the bill perfectly. That said, and knowing geeks, this is a unit that was OEM'd for a major PC Vendor and I doubt the 8pin connector splits apart. Thus, I'm expecting to pay the $5-6 for the converter cable too.

This model is a couple years old I think, so I dont think the 8pin splits either.

Check out these charts for total system power (one card). It looks like a gtx 275 takes about 130 watts loaded. I think it may be possible to use one of these psu (would require pci-e power adapters, each 275 takes 2)

Thanks again. I think I may buy 2 just in case.

also @ Dman..it may have 4+4 after all. I just saw jonny's review on the 5140gh and it has 4+4. I think that was the model before this one.

man what to do...get 2 of these or get something a little stronger, but would probably cost quite a bit more. hmmm.

Here is positive proof that it does have 20+4 and 4+4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...erver%20Power%20Supply

screw it; Im in for 2, possibly 3 as its always good to have spares for low power systems, lol.

Wierd...

I work as a software developer, and I had to look inside my Intel developer kit system. And this exact PSU was in both of them. The dev kit system is using a 8 pin to 4 pin adapter in one of my dev kits, and in the other it isnt... the older dev kit (btx machine) has the split one, and the newer one ATXmachine doesnt.

I actually am not buying one, since well I have an earthwatts 500 already, but they have worked fine in my dev kit boxes. I have been to the intel labs and if all their dev kits are like this, then I guess it must be somewhat decent as they have hundreds of dev kits running in racks.
