Thanks to all the rich good for nothing NBAers who had better things to do.

Guess only playing 2 good games out of 7 isn't good enough for gold. Blame the officiating all you want, officials don't brick wide open outside shots.

They must really suck to lose to a team like Argentina

Argentina is actually one of the best teams in the world. I'm not all that surprised given some of the poor results we had earlier in the tournament.
Compared to the Pistons or the Lakers (well the Lakers of last year)? I seriously doubt it!

Probably. But you can't really compare a pro team that trains together for most of the year to a national team that gets together a few weeks each year. I would be interested, however, to see how the Pistons played against the best pro team from Argentina, Spain, or Italy, for example. That would be cool, similar to the way it is done in soccer.

Eh? You mean a pro team that was just recently put together compared to a team that has been training together for a long time now? The pistons would own them all.

I'd be curious to see them play one game with NBA rules and refs and one game with int'l rules and refs. It's becoming apparent that being a superstar under one system does not guarantee success in the other.

They can go for only bronze now.

Um, no. I meant two pro teams that have trained and played together for a long time. The NBA champions against the Argentinian champions, for example. Or maybe the Pistons going on a tour, playing three or four pro teams from Europe. Just an idea that might give us the chance to see a real American team playing a real foreign team.

Does everyone still just spout this sh!t? This is what happens when we can't get the players we want, and are stuck with the 2nd or 3rd "rate" players that aren't shooters to begin with.

Well, they got bronze back in 1988, so hopefully they can at least duplicate that.

hahah Ben Wallace and Rip both declined invitations to the Olympic team. If they didn't even want to play for team USA, you think they would go on a tour in Europe?

I'd cheer for the Pistons. As for the Lakers, that might be difficult...

They will play the loser of Lithuania - Italy match (which is most likely Italy) for bronze.

I'm all in favor of having the Pistons play the winners and beating them by at least 30

it doesn't make sense, its tradition. Why was Christian Laettner part of the original dream team? tradition.
