Bastard keyed my car tonight.... I got his License plate

I'm sitting there quietly waiting for people to pull out of a spot with my blinker on, when this Black Toyota Sequoia comes screeching around the garage corner and pulls into the spot I'm sitting there waiting on.

I honk the horn and get out and argue with the guy for like 10 minutes after much screaming and yelling, he finally decides to move his car. I go on my merry way but when I come back later on there's this nice 2 foot long key gash in the side of my car.

I got his license plate number though.... what do I do? any ideas?

My thoughts have ranged from getting a repair estimate and showing up at his door with the bill, to throwing a brick through his window(I wont do this obviously)

What do you all suggest? and how do I go about tracking down this SOB.

go to the motor deparment office...dmv...dps..whatever its called in your state... pay something like 20$ and you can get his info. since you have no proof that he keyed your car, you cant make him pay... what you can do is punch him straight in the mouth

He shouldn't have keyed your car.....he should have smacked the sh!t out of you for arguing over a space.


Unless there are cameras I doubt much will come of it. Just file an insurance claim and get it fixed.

No concrete proof he did it. It's all technically circumstantial evidence. Of course, it's obvious that he is the culprit...but it cannot be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Your only recourse would be revenge, at this point. You won't see a dime from him. Sorry

Oh yeah that makes sense... I should have just let him take my spot that I was waiting for and not have said a word..... This is a no question case of blatant space stealing.... I pulled up to these people as they were getting into their car... this other guy wasn't even anywhere nearby for the next 2 minutes while I patiently waited for these guys to get in and leave.

He might have memo and pen in his car ready like I do.

How did you get his license plate?

During the argument I got it, in case he decided to do something just like this. Not sure how to go about getting his info from the plate number though.

I'm with you on this one, fvck him. You're a big guy, just go put the hurt on him after you try legal action and realize it won't go anywhere. Check with the people that own/run the parking garage though and see if they have cameras monitoring the place, if you got the guy on film then you should be good to go.

If you didn't see him do it its hard to prove, but im sure YOU SEEN HIM DO IT right?

Also, during the exchange you both had with eachother, if he threatened to do something to you or your car that would benefit your case as well.

If it were me, I would call the cops and tell them I sat there and watched him key my car from a distance, and was not surprised because he threatened me during the previous arguement. Case closed.

i would have let him steal the spot then keyed his car when he left...

but that is a bit late now. i would find out where he lived... then i would ... hmm... not sure what i would do at this point, but it would include a hell of a lot more $$$ then it would cost to repair the scratches in my car.

edit: this is a TRUE story...

someone pissed me off... wot go into that now.. but to get him back... here is what i did:

Took one gallon of white paint. Opened it. Placed a large piece of carboard over the top. Placed the can of paint on the roof of their car and slowly slid the cardboard out.
