One thing i'll never understand about people is their obsession with close parking spaces. Really, i mean how fvcking lazy are you? You've got two legs you fvcking morons, use them!

I always park far... because I know the assholes always park close.

same here
and I hate space vultures that will wait 5 minutes for grandma to get the walker in the car and back out to keep from walking 100' all while blocking the lanes.

Sometimes it's not a matter of finding a CLOSE spot, but finding ANY spot. The people who sit there waiting for you to pull out annoy me too though, sometimes I just want to sit in my car and read a book before I pull out.

This was exactly the situation... I was way more than 100' from where I was going. There just weren't any spaces.... so I saw these people getting into their car... I pulled off to the side so as not to be too in their face, and put my turn signal on. Like 4 other cars drove by and politely respected the fact that I had the spot. This asshat, comes squeeling around the corner as the other car backs out, and pushes in while I'm blocked by the car that pulled out. There was really absolutely no question as to who was right and who was wrong in this situation.

At one point I say "c'mmon dude, there's no way you can look me in the eye and tell me that wasn't my spot".... he responds "but I've driven around like 3 times now I couldn't find another spot". I say "look man we're all adults here, and you should do the adult thing and move your car". Thats when he agreed to move.

you have only 3 options:
1) tracking him down and vandalize his car
2) lie and say you SAW him do it (its obvious he did it) and go to the police
3) do nothing.

take your pick.

Well, I hope we all learned a lesson today...if someone attempts to steal your space, and you argue with them...don't be the guy who parks there...they will fvck your sh!t up...

Next time, let it slide and don't be a hard ass, it will save you hundresd of dollars in body shop repairs down the line.

i am mean like that.

edit: this is a TRUE story...

someone pissed me off... wot go into that now.. but to get him back... here is what i did:

Took one gallon of white paint. Opened it. Placed a large piece of carboard over the top. Placed the can of paint on the roof of their car and slowly slid the cardboard out.

awesome!!!

pay for his address. go to his house with a lot of your friends. find out if he did key your car. make him pay for it.

edit: max, i think what you did is fine. i dont understand these other morons who would rather let the guy get the parking spot and then return like a god damn pansy and key that car. anyone who keys a car is FVCKING SCUM.

I have to admit Karen, thats awesome lol.

To OP dude I agree with what you did till you parked in the space

Not everyone will come back but some will and then they will key your car

I personally would pay the $40 and find out where he lives, wait till he takes his car to the mall or other private area, and then take revenge. Just don't take your car anywhere close.

NOTE: Don't u start keying cars like he did, that I can't respect. Revenge on the act is different.

just lie and say you witnessed him doing it, and tried to chase him but couldn't, but you did manage to get his license plate.

it's perfectly plausible.

1) Find out where he lives or leaves his car for a little while
2) Purchase 2 dozen eggs
3) Crack eggs into a container and allow to bake in the sun for a couple weeks/months
4) Find out where the fresh air vents are on his vehicle
5) Dump eggs into said vents

The gift that keeps on giving.

Unless there are cameras I doubt much will come of it. Just file an insurance claim and get it fixed.

The problem is.. chances are, the incident took place on private property. This means, unless there was bodily harm, or a preponderous amount of damage, or a cop actually witnessed the event then you are SOL. In private property, different rules take place then on the public roadways. Keying a car is considered a MISDEMEANOR in most states. I'm serious. Look up the laws as I told you, but even if you WITNESS the guy doing it, and even caught it on film, all the guy has to say is that it wasn't him. Now your footage is not immicable(sp?) in court. Sorry a bit woozy to spell correctly so please forgive me.

I'd like to help you out, but if that ever happened again and you witnessed it... beat the FVCK out of them. I'm serious. Claim self defense and you'll win. I've done it before. Not a mark on my record. You just have to say you were IN the vehicle when it was damaged and that he was threatening you bodily harm as well as property damage. Bingo.. now you have free right to act in ALL 50 states to defend yourself.. if need be to the death. I don't recommend you try the death part thought.. just saying it's been done and successfully tried before. It's an unalienable law and right to self and property. BUT it has to be to self AND property.

Well I'm certainly glad you're giving legal advice. I didn't know that vandalism doesn't count if it's on private property. I'm going to key my name and address into every car in the walmart parking lot and there isn't a thing they can do about it, huh?

While I'm there, I'll buy a shotgun and shoot everyone of them that shows up at my house to beat my ass, because it's only self defense!

The rule here is that if you don't know that the word is "admissible", a form of the word "admit", then you should probably stop trying to be a computer-chair lawyer. But good job degrading the quality of the forums with junior-high like legal advice.

Call the police. There is one way to prove that he did it. I suspect that if he dug deep enough, there is still paint on his key.

Or, throw a brick at his face. Or, beat him up. Or, destroy his house. Or, etc... Get creative with your revenge, it is more fun that way. It is even better to wait a year or so.

Don't forget that the free 'legal' advice you get off the internet is usually worth less than what you paid for it. That being the case . . .

Most people are right that there's insufficient evidence to bother filing a CRIMINAL complaint (but I'd do it anyway, just to have it on record), but the standards of proof are different in CIVIL court; the prevailing party need only establish his/her case by the preponderance of the evidence, which is significantly easier than the criminal standard. Heck, you might even get lucky and he fails to appear, which usually results in a victory by default. I'd explore your civil court options in the small claims court of your jurisdiction.

I got his license plate number though.... what do I do? any ideas?

My thoughts have ranged from getting a repair estimate and showing up at his door with the bill, to throwing a brick through his window(I wont do this obviously)

What do you all suggest? and how do I go about tracking down this SOB.

-Max

Take him to small claims court and you'll definately win.

Honestly, the police aren't going to care if you call them and tell them that someone keyed your car. And the police also won't care when you beat that guy up. This is minor stuff that they're not going to waste their time with.

The people who are surely going to chime in to say that the police are waiting to cater to their every need are most likely frail pansies who desperately hope that someone will protect them, since they can't take care of matters on their own. I even had a sucker try to tell me that when I was about to deck him. I still drilled his mouth loose, and I never heard of the incident again. Either he didn't call the cops (unlikely), or the cops simply didn't care.

You don't want to do that, once a weapon is involved the cops will do something about it. If you just pound him with your fists, it was just a fight.

I guess that depends on how you define tough. I assure you if I was in the space and you came up yelling at me you would get hit.

On the other hand if someone stole my space I wouldn't get out yelling at them. I would be "walked all over" as some have put it. Not very tough huh?
