batch file scripting

hello all, please help me out, i need a basic batch script to pinging a collection of IP address in the command prompt, begin with say 192.168.1.1 all the way to 192.168.1.254. if there's no respond, give it 5 seconds and move on to the next IP. please help me out, i need this as soon as possible.

You should google batch scripting. It won't take you long at all.

That's what you want. It lets you ping a range of ip addresses(over different subnets even), shows you computer names, group names, usernames logged in(columns need to be added to view), and you can even export to excel.

i found some script online, edit it a little and ended up with this:
