Starting a new thread because I don't want to clutter up the other ‘what are you working on one now‘…
I posted this in the thread below quite a few years ago in response to a member looking for suggestions on their bathroom shower flooring:

I had closed on my current home in November 2017 and hired the contractor in mid December to remodel both bathrooms. Mine, a wheelchair accessible roll-in, the wife’s tiled with a heated whirlpool tub.
We were living in CT with a hard date to move here to the ’Ville on March 18th of 2018. Contractor agreed and away we went on the project.
As you can imagine typical communication problems ensued because of the long distance. My wife's sister and mother lives close enough that they were able to give us updates on the progress as the time to move in got closer.
Upon arrival in final walk-through of the job prior to paying the contractor we found a few items that needed addressing. I wasn’t totally comfortable with this. However **the contractor** brought up this one section of tile saying that he had to do it last and it will be completely cured in about 3 to 6 weeks. If there's any problems to get in contact with him. Ugh, nightmare scenario plays in my head of never hearing from this dude again.
Those tiles never really cured all the way… Damn! I was so pissed and frustrated with the cost versus the result. I swore that contractor wouldn't be back! That I'd fix it myself! Yeah right…
Fast forward to early June of this year. Of course I haven't fixed it. Of course it hasn’t fixed itself. Of course it's getting worse. The toilet in that room has seen better days so I decided to see if the contractor would honor his workmanship and inspect the floor before I tore the commode out.
Ohman, surprise! After some emails, texts and calls we actually connected. He came over and immediately remembered that convo about the curing. Said “I’m gonna have to tear back to solid tile/mortar. I'm surprised it took this long to fail.” I said “That shit failed years ago” and that I was sorry for not calling him sooner. Fuckin hubris on my part!
He had to take it back real far to find solid mortar and tile. Of course a couple broke! I had some leftover from the original install which save my ass.
