I think we want a Superman. He should have his fantastic abilities, but constantly torn and tortured over using them because he's not sure exactly what his limits are and how many people could be killed as a result. The problem is he's just not being depicted correctly. The closest we've gotten to an accurate Superman is Christopher Reeve's first two movies, and they're so corny it's difficult to relate to them today.

I could see that, there is a good analogy for America in that.

Dammit, why aren't you in charge of this franchise?

And it can also run its course. The MCU was amazing when it produced Avengers 1, but by the time we got to Avengers 2 it was boring because we knew no one could really die or have anything really change or it would screw up the Civil War movie. At some point Marvel needs to shock us and do something like kill someone we all like or it will lose its excitement.
Thor, Iron Man, Capt. America, will all very likely die. Capt dies in Civil War, RDJ is tired of the role, so expect him to take a dirt nap. I think we saw the future in A2, the whole OG Avengers team is going to get shit canned by Thanos.

Thor 3 is on the books, so he is surviving. As for Capt America and Iron Man? Sure, that sounds about right seeing as how they don't want to push any single franchise past three movies and Iron Man had his three and this is Captain's 3rd.

That is the problem with the MCU though. You know going into the movie who is likely to die or not. The chance for them to surprise us pretty much doesn't exist.

I've never read comic books, but do any of the main characters every really die, like for good. It seems almost like soap operas or telenovelas where even if you see the body in the coffin being lowered into the ground, it still doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I watched it yesterday. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either.

Anything that has been hyped this much and isn't great pretty much would qualify as a large fail in my mind.

But of course I went and paid for the 3d vibrating chair etc when the last Godzilla came out, and was really disappointed.

Has turned me off to wasting my time again on things like that.

Is similar to why I do not pre buy games these days, it's just not a thing should be done these days, unless you have money to burn.

iirc, RDJ said that he considers Civil War to be Ironman 4. Sounds to me like he's gonna die in it

So the 44 second deleted scene that is out explains quite a bit of the ending that made no sense to anyone who isn't a comic nerd. Maybe the 30 minutes extra in the video release will redeem this turd.

Are you talking about this one? Link

Even as a "comic nerd" that thing made no sense. I shutter to think of how bad it'll be if that's supposed to be Darkseid.. looks nothing like him

imagine 10 super hero movies a year for the next 80 years and you will begin to feel my torment.

At least reality TV has been dying off a bit over the years, and a few mainstream companies have started making shows with a real plot these days.

I won't dwell on how reality TV has influenced politics and some peoples mindset.

Nuff said.

BvS just made half a billion dollars in a weekend - this isn't going to be the movie to bring down comic book movies.

Exactly. Supergirl brought down the past comic movie boom and today it's a hit show.

There will be no escaping it.

Hmm I actually enjoyed it more than I expected. Personally I didn't like Ultron very much as it never achieved a sense of importance/real danger, though it was more rewatchable than I thought due to the normal Marvel humor.

At the end of it, I walked out having a good time which is really all that matters with very few cringeworthy moments. Sure some stuff was weak and the plot was thin, but that's true for practically all movies of the genre (Ant man setup, Infinity stones are the most dangerous/powerful objects in the universe and the mind stone is just floating around earth).

Couple things did annoy me:
- The setup with the dead men in the desert never made sense. They were shot by bullets, that leaves traces, why would Superman ever use bullets. Too easy to refute.
- That "vision" with the flash was pointless, added nothing to the plot, and would only be understood by "fans" - should have just left it out
- They overly focused on the action side of Batman and basically ignored the "greatest detective" title. Being taken hook line and sinker by Lex was a bit meh - I would have preferred that he figured it out, but didn't care.
- I thought the fight between the two was decently setup - transparent but at least they went through the effort. But yeah, the reconciliation was a bit too rushed.
- I liked WW and though Gal did a good job, but going toe to toe with Doomsday and basically walking away without a scratch? The fight never had tension and the clear setup for Superman was heavy handed.
- The ending was meh as well - Supes and Doomsday kill each other in a 1v1 fight. I'd have preferred something where they all end up hurt and Supes makes a wink wink comment like "I couldn't have done this without you. If I had to fight him alone, I would have died." That's kind of the whole point of the League. Now they have to spend an hour of the JL movie explaining how he comes back.

I do hope they treat Darkseid like Marvel treats Thanos with the slow reveal. The first JL movie can't be where they face him outright.

I doubt it's him. Though it seems to be motherbox related, and so it might be how he showed himself to lex.

It would've explained his insanity. Remember, he read the entire kryptonian knowledge base. That's more than enough for a human.

Word is it's one of his minions (Steppenwolf), from WB themselves, but doesn't actually look like him.

It's why they continue to churn out crap like this to begin with, of course.

That's a good point, though I would argue that he was already insane (at least portraying like he was) before he got access to the ship. If anything it's like the movie's makers couldn't decide if they wanted the Joker or Lex so they went with a odd mix of both.

Word is it's one of his minions (Steppenwolf), from WB themselves, but doesn't actually look like him.

I can't say I'm too surprised if it's him. One thing I swear these movies do is first see what they can change to put their mark on it. If this is Steppenwolf then I'm not looking forward to what they do for Darkseid. One thing I'm confused on with that scene is why 3 motherboxes (provided that's what they are) One would be enough for Steppenwolf I'd think. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed that.. change to fit it in, like the Cosmic Cube becoming a Infinity Gem..
