<< SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT.

I've got an APC "Network Powercell BD". I can't find any reference to this particular model anywhere (except APC). I've been looking for batteries for it for quite sometime now. I haven't been able to locate any with the same deminsions as the original. I've noticed that most websites, like Parts Express for example, neglect to mention the demisions of their batteries which seems kinda lame to me.

Does anybody know what this beast is and where I can find the correct batteries ?

Thanks

Strangely enough I just replaced a set of batteries on that exact same model UPS around 2 weeks ago. The best deal I found was $14.39 per battery at www.GotBatteries.com

*sigh*

No...sit down. Re-read what I wrote. Pay particular attention to the definition of the word "lifetime." Note that I did not say "capacity" or "reserve time." Though after a few deep discharges using a car battery, you might well be able to substitute either of these terms into my statement.

Next, examine the physical differences between a typical high-current car battery and a deep-cycle battery. I refer you to the "Deep Cycle Battery FAQ." There are a number of copies floating around the net but you can find it here.. In particular, I refer you to section 4.2:

<< Car batteries are especially designed for high initial cranking amps (usually 200 to 400 amps for five to 15 seconds) to start a car and not for deep cycle discharges. Deep cycle (and marine) batteries are designed for prolonged discharges at lower current. [The plates in car battery are more porous and thinner than in deep cycle batteries and use sponges or expanded metal grid instead of solid lead.] A deep cycle battery will typically outlast two to ten car batteries when used in deep cycle applications. Starting an engine will typically consume less that 5% of a car battery's capacity. Whereas, deep cycle (or marine) batteries are used for applications that will consume between 20 and 80% of the battery's capacity.

Thanks for the heads up worm
I have my 350VA from CC Black Friday for $9.99, and I have an athlon 1.4 and a 19" monitor hooked up onto it, and power off, BEEP BEEP BEEP. RAR. Wanna get a 500VA or more, but I will probably only be able to spend up to $20 for it.....as in, not likely.

I'm currently trying out BatteryMinder which is supposed to be able to revive some dead batteries. Not sure if it actually works or not but if it does it could save alot in the long run.
