Battery Backup UPS in foreign County with standard 230V electricity

After reading the speaker question posted in the forum earlier...

I know very little about electric current, as it wasnt my field of study...but

I am asking myself...Theroetically, could a foreign 230V UPS be modified to be used in a 110 Circuit in USA?
It could be hooked up to a 230V Range or Dryer outlet to power it, and just the output side be modified to produce longer lasting 110V current output. thereby it would outlast any current UPS on the market today.

I guess it could be done but it involves replacing the transformer.
But why would it last longer? How long it last depends on how much energy the batteries can store and that has nothing to do with the voltage.

the rating wouldn't change ,it's down to the batteries.i've never used one but maybe it has a 220/110 selector switch
