Battle.net account locked

I got a mail today saying my battle.net account was locked due to suspicious activity. To unlock it I need my cd key from the box or the answer to the security question. Now I don't own any Blizzard games(used to have Diablo 3 but returned it within the 30 day MB period), and I don't remember my security answer.

I don't care about the account, but I may have my cc info stored on there. Can it be an issue if I just leave the account locked. Doesn't that mean nobody can access info inside the account?

are you sure that it was a legit email you received? it was probably a scam mail, i think i receive one of those every week, but my brother is still playing the game i own...

If you are still uncertain about it just go to b.net and try to login. if you cant, call their client support

Sounds like your average spam. My spam folder gets a b.net/blizzard type of spam mail almost daily. Most common one is saying account locked for something or another.

If it is legit. Since the account is locked should mean you can't even log into it so having that CC info there shouldn't be an issue.

I will try to refrain myself from going into a rant, but it wont be easy. I kept getting those e-mails too and assumed they were spam and ignored them. After getting a new computer and a nicer monitor I decided to play SC2 again. When I tried to log in, surprise, my account was locked, and they were accusing me of trying to "sell" the account. I had played D3 for several months and then stopped playing for a few months. I still dont know why they thought I was trying to sell the account, except that I played on my desktop and laptop at 2 different locations a long time ago. I always tried to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt when people complained about their always on-line BS, but I am seriously considering never buying another Blizzard game because of this. I eventually got everything straightened out, but WTH, I wouldnt know how to go about "selling" my account even if I wanted to.

Edit: But yeah, dont reply immediately to the e-mails. Just try to log in to your account, and if you can, you know the e-mail is spam. If you cant log in, you know it is probably legit.

dont click on anything in the emails, go to bent and log in to see whats up.

it does sound like spam, i get a few a week saying im trying to sell my D3 acnt

I get at least 4-5 of these a week. They either say my D3 account or my WoW account and sometimes my SWTOR account has been locked due to whatever and I need to give them a bunch of into to unlock. They are always fun to read but always get deleted. Funny thing is, I havent logged into D3 or SWTOR in months but they say that I did something a day or two ago that was fishy and now I am under an investigation.

Funny that is more than likely spam, however everytime I come back to play an odd game of SC2 my BN account is locked and I have to annoyingly go through the unlock process which turns me off from bothering to play at all. This has been the case the last two times I've bothered to try and play (months apart).

If you ever have any doubt about your b.net account, just go to battle.net's actual website and see if you can log in. If indeed your account is locked, you will not be able to login and the site will give you notice of that.

If you can log in and there's no notices or anything about your account being locked, then you are golden.

The "check your battle.net" link will probably be to a faked site used to grab your password.

Unfortunately, I went on bnet and tried to login and got the same error message. I tried to use the cannot login option but I need my security answer or first 6 characters of the cd key. Both of which I don't have.

I played Warcraft 1 through 3, Diablo 1 and 2, StarCraft and even did World of Warcraft for a short period of time.

When they made this transition, I wasn't wild about it. When I decided I might want to try more WOW, a buddy of mine that had raided through the first 2 expansions told me that his account had been locked out, and he was unable to get it back in his name because it had been hacked and used for nefarious purposes.

I decided that a) I wasn't going to play WOW without at least my buddy to play with and b) I wouldn't bother with their games that require a Battle.net account to play (Diablo III, SC2, etc.).

I'm a drop in the bucket I know, but I wonder how many others out there they lost as customers and they don't even know it, because of their stupid policies.

I had my account locked a few days ago,when I tried to play D3 said it was locked so I had to reset my password etc..I don't know if it was due to hack or using different PC etc..anyway easy to find out if your account is locked out by trying to play the game or going through official Battle.net account via website,spams ones are normally easy to identify however.

They made me verify my billing address and phone number on my account. And after that he emailed me a password reset link. After I logged in, I added SMS Protect, so next time if this happens I can unlock the account from my phone.

AFAIK you can't change the name on your bnet account so his story is suspect.

Also, just call Blizzard support. They can sort it out for you using your CC info and name. Also change your password once you do that.

And I still don't understand how people don't have authenticators by now. They are free on smart phones or cost $6.

i get 1-2 daily from "battlenet" for games i dont even play like wow and sc2.
hell i get emails saying my rift and aion accounts are going to be banned and i've never played those, just ignore any emails and directly login to battle.net like someone earlier said.

Pretty easy to check, one of the links (pretty sure of) you can just simply copy paste the URL into your notepad. I got those e-mails so often, they either have only the first part right but then later you see a redirect to another website OR battle.net is spelled like battle.us.x.a battlhe.net etc, many ways to found out it's a fraud from just the URL.

If you just leave it like that nothing will happen to it as far as I know
