Yeah the rake was pretty awesome, great fight. Megatento is that annoying bot that shouldn't be in the fight, yet they keep it around, like Nightmare.

I've been watching this season and enjoying it, but this show is like one of those idiotic reality shows. I download it via torrent, and the 60 minute show is 42 minutes without commercials. That 42 minutes is lucky if it contains 12 to 15 minutes of actual bot fighting, usually less because of knockouts. The rest is filler, with the most amazingly mind-numbing, boring and just plain who-gives-a-shit backstories. Takes me less than 15 minutes to watch an episode.

BTW, vertical spinners look like they rule the day. Just too much destructive power, as well as some of the best minds behind them. Everything else looks like a novelty in comparison. They should have had 1/2 the competitors in this thing, and 1/10th the noise, and the entire competition could have been a really entertaining 2 hour show.

I PVR it, and just skip everything except the battles. I am sure the whole thing could be done in 4-5 days, since they need to repair the bots as well.
The rest is 100% crap, all those announcers are horrible.

Best weapon in battlebots yet "THE RAKE". What was interesting with our "Red Dwarf" host has turned into a WWW clone. Costuming, announcer hype and "stances of dominance" don't do it for me.

Except that I haven't seen a drone yet that made a damn bit of difference. Like someone else said, flames are seldom very effective. It was pretty damned cool when that drone just flat blew up, but I don't think they needed the rake to win the match.

I'll be amazed if one of the vertical spinners doesn't win. There appear to be two subclasses of those spinners - one uses a heavy drum spinner, which allows the whole robot to be kept very low and compact, which itself is a good defense mechanism by keep attack surfaces to a minimum. It also makes them highly maneuverable. The other approach uses a flywheel, which necessitates a taller body and makes it more vulnerable to flipping and the capture/pincer type bots.

My money right now is on Minotaur.
