The question now becomes what to do with this game. First time since the beginning of battlefield that my group of friends and I won't be buying this together due to life and such. Have always found BF games to be far more enjoyable with a squad that communicates. Real tempted to buy this, had a lot of fun with the beta. Performance looks great. Beta ran well. Seems to be off to a better start than BF4 already.

I think Hawaii isn't performing here. 290X = 470 isn't quite right. Also 290 is only 4-8% faster than the 380X at 1440p DX11-12. That's called a red flag, folks.

Odd to see Hawaii suffer when it often does the best seeing as its closest architecturally to whats in the consoles.
Yeah it's odd. I was looking at used 290 and 390's but if this becomes a trend I'd be better off even with a 470.

Too bad battlefield isn't bundled, you get a coupon to upgrade the overpriced normal version to the "deluxe" version with a bunch of nonsense items. Bf4 was bundled with 270 and up. I guess EA got too expensive for amd.

This certainly isn't the norm. In most games the 290X/390X out performs the RX 480 and definitely 470. Also there's a pretty big delta in performance from a reference 290(X) and a non-reference factory overclocked 290/390(X).

Please stop with the misleading charts making nvidia look worse than they are.

Thank you very much!
Shows the same info as the previous posted chart you are railing against. Nice try again. Same ~55 watts. Go change a light bulb and find a new tactic, this one is played out.

Best implemented dx12 game yet, and its a bloodbath o_0

Looking forward to more benchmarks.. This is one of the biggest games in 2016, so this is pretty much a big deal

The game looks just stunning and nice perf even out the gate. What a wonderfull artwork.

Hope i can enjoy with my 0.6 kd beeing slaughtered by all the beta players and the usuals that plays as much every second week as i do a year.

Seems its perhaps possible to use my 470 1340 on 4k medium and not even upgrade to vega then. Looking forward to the fun anyway.

GTX 1060 @ DX11 matching RX 480 / 390X @ DX12 in SweClockers

Worse minimum FPS for all cards under DX12

The game's DirectX 12 mode, however, remains somewhat of a mystery. We find certainly a much higher frame rate cuts, for example Radeon RX 480, but it all comes with a hefty back in the form of coarse FPS dips and a generally uneven experience with both AMD and Nvidia-based hardware.

How are the charts misleading? Are the numbers faked? Both MSI versions consume 175W. If those charts are "misleading", so are yours, just pushing a different agenda. The truth is that some 1070s are more efficient than others. Neither are actually misleading and arguing over that kind of power consumption delta is reaching.

Those of us who have tried mantle on bf4 multiplayer 64 man huge maps knows dx12 when fixed will kill dx11. No contest. Far better min. It just a matter of a month or two from now.

Yea, especially if you dont have a $1000 CPU. Those with Core i3/5s will appreciate DX-12 more than those with 6-8 Cores.

We see the 470/480 doing very well in DX12.

We also see the AMD CPUs doing very well in DX12. While the 1080 does worse in DX12 vice DX11 on the GPU comparison charts it's only because the test was on a 5960X.

The 6100, 6300, 8150, 8350, and 9590 gain 12-13% (very consistent gains)

The faster AMD cards - 380X, 290, 290X, 470, 480, Nano, Fury X gain 3-6%. It's reasonable to conclude the Fury, 390, and 390X would also gain 3-6%.

I wonder if the GPU test was redone with a 9590 what the GPU results would look like. Would we see 12-13% gain with more (all?) nVidia cards? Would be see 15-19% gains for AMD?

If the 15-19% gains hold true for AMD chip and AMD GPU I'm a happy camper as I own an 8350 and a 480. That's free performance for me and makes those old AMD chips not quite so terrible (though i got my 8350 for $100 so my expectations are low)

preliminary results. Can't wait for digital foundry vids on the final game.

RX470 outperforming 1060. . Seems like 1060 is already on the way down the ladder.

not strange. seen similar happen before. believe it happens in doom for example. Should be the norm in dx12 and vulkan in most cases. Those who opted for a 1060 6B should see the tip of troubles head showing. Those who opted for the 3GB... well...

No, DICE is quite good, among the best in the business. But it's really, really tough to beat NVIDIA's driver teams.

yeah but thats probably down to access to the hardware that a developer simply cannot get.

point is, its not strange. Doesn't happen in tomb raider and gears 4, but still happens often enough. Close in ashes and total war.

Seeing it in battlefield 1 is not a surprise.

Just installed my brand new 1060 6Gb Gigabyte card today. Can't wait to try this game out. I have great faith that NV will optimize drivers further for this game.

Amazing, an RX 470 4gb beating a significantly pricier 6gb 1060. And to think I was even considering to buy a 3gb 1060.

The 6700 is also faster in DX11. 6600 and 4770k are the same within the margin of error.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Nvidia's drivers team has been about as reliable as your Georgia secondary against Tennessee's hail marys when it comes to putting out DX 12 updates. Either their software, hardware, or a combination of both aren't well adapted to future APIs unfortunately for nvidia buyers.

This is unsubstantiated FUD.
