Played a little tonight. Same as every other bf game. Take forever to get somewhere and then die to a sniper, or die as soon as you spawn to some lone player camping an area. Very rarely do you ever see the person who killed you because most likely they are miles away and just a speck of dust. Seems like i die in like e shot but i have to unload 3 whole mags into an enemy to kill them. Hell even with vehicle weapons it seems to take forever to kill someone.

Gotta say the graphics are gorgeous though.

Played for a few hours last night. With DX12 I was getting ~120fps on ultra @ 1920x1200 with a gtx 1070 and i7 5820k @ 4.5 with 16GB.

The game is jaw dropping in terms of cinematic feel. The animations are some of the best I've seen in a game, let alone an online FPS. Watching a Cavalry unit jump over a wall engulfed with flame, sail over my head on fire, and slice open a teammate as he landed was one of the most amazing non-scripted moments I've had in gaming.

The new spawn menu is quite nice, you never really feel like you're taken out of the game. The respawn times are much shorter int his game, so you can quickly get back into the action. The problem with the fast respawn times is medics are kinda moot outside of tickets. So you'll have a hard time getting a revive if you need it.

The air combat is refreshing for the BF series. Dog fights are very epic feeling and are pretty balanced. Unlike BF3/4, you really can't go solo in the air and be very successful against other aircraft. The fighter is the only single seat aircraft, and you will get torn up if you try to take on a bomber by your lonesome. My only complaint with the aircraft is being a gunner is frustrating when the pilot is all over the place and you can't steady your crosshairs on anything.

Tanks feel just a bit too OP, but that's mostly due to the want for an RPG when all you have is TNT and those anti-tank grenades. The armored train can be intimidating, but a few good men on the field cannons, with some assault units laying TNT on the tracks, can take down that thing in a few minutes.

Overall, the game is impressive from a graphical and mechanics standpoint. That being said, I walked away from it feeling oddly underwhelmed. Maybe it was because I got bored of the one map far too quickly, but I felt fatigued after an hour of playing the game. The fast respawn times means you're back in the action right away, so you never really get a break from the mayhem. Maybe that is a sign of how realistic the game is, or that it can be a little tedious with how fast the gameplay is on such a large map.

It's not a bad game at all, especially considering it's very much still beta. I'll give the game a few more days to help me decide if I'll pre-order it, and if Premium will be something I want to drop $130 on.

Apparently EA was DDOS'ed by Poodlecorp. EA games are down worldwide and supposedly they are working to get things back working again. Shame, BF4 was my go to after the BF1 beta, lol.
Still down. Poodlecorp seems good at their job
What did EA do to Poodlecorp anyway?

Game looks nice. I think DICE has is out for medics though. The new spawn system pretty much assures that everyone is going to be hammering space to get back to the spawn menu so you won't have a chance to revive. The semi auto rifle they gave the medic is a POS as well. Loses to the assault and support automatic weapons in CQB. Not accurate enough to countersnipe with and it takes way too many bullets to kill with the horrible cycle rate. I really hope they tone down the OHK snipers with a body shot as well. I'm cautiously optimistic about it. I think tanks will become more manageable as people learn to use the fixed AT guns as well as snipers figuring out K rounds and people unlocking the RPG thing.

These groups and everyone in them need to have a DoucheCon convention and a B-2 needs to fly over it while carrying nuclear weapons and have a malfunction, and the weapons drop on the place, and...

Talk about a bunch of tools.

I'm guessing that's why when I launch the game it says "EA server is down"? Poop.

Played Rush for about 45 minutes, mostly Assault (or whatever light machinegun class is). I dig that they basically copied the GUI and interface mechanisms from Star Wars Battlefront because I thought that was really well done and slick in that game. Otherwise it's pretty standard Battlefield fare, from my short playing.

Cool that you can zero the Scout's rifle. Apparently the Scout's weapon with K bullets are the only anti-tank weapon in the game, until you unlock some sort of RPG? Haven't been able to shoot a tank with the K bullet to check it out cause I died before I could. I kind of wish they would've slowed the game down, even just a little bit, since it's World War I but it's just as fast as Battlefield 3/4.

I got owned like usual (I think I got one or two kills in that 45 minutes) but I'm going to try and actually learn the maps. I'm hoping doing that will cause me to at least not totally suck mandick at the game.

I used to be at least decent at Battlefield 2 (10 years ago, so what lol):

A heads up, if you get the missing weapons on spawn issue do the following:
- Go to the main main battlefield website, login and hit the career tab. You can purchase and equip items on each kit.

There is also a progression bug in the open beta build, this video explains it and the workaround. Changing your kit off of the website is another workaround.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWcg6wxb1Pc

Top Tips:
- If you spawn into the tank (driver/pilot class) press and hold "X" to self repair
- If you are in the default light tank make sure you press "4" to drop big med bags and big ammo crates. It helps a lot as no one really plays support.
- If you have a horse nearby, hop on and press "3" and "4". "3" is a small health pouch and "4" is a ammo pouch. Great when you are hit or need a quick top up.
- Horse riders have 2 light anti-tank grenades. They will regenerate over time.
- When riding a horse, be smooth with turning, the horses will stop if you attempt to turn too quickly.
- If you put down AT mines, they will disappear when you die.
- If you are a medic, the revive icon may not show on the mini-map or HUD.
- If you are a medic, you can revive and heal the hero classes.
- The only hero class that has head shot protection from snipers is the machine gun hero from "F".
- The flamethrower hero shoots farther than you think.
- Work on the assault class first and level to class rank 1 to get the AT Rocket. It will really help with taking tanks out. (Overall Rank is separate to Class Rank)
- Stationary weapons are really good, use them if you can. The howitzer can hit heavy tanks for up to 38 a shot. They can also rotate 360 degrees by pressing "A" or "D".
- If the cap is taking too long, just leave and cap a different point. The conquest point system values points held over time instead of kills done. The common stalemate point is "C", focusing on "G", "F", "D", "A", "B" is preferred. "E" is only really advisable if you have a vehicle.

Haven't played BF since 1942. Heh, I suck. Doesn't help that my 1060 hasn't arrived yet, so I am limping along at 20-30 fps on low.

No joystick support? Come on, I dug it out of the closet for this. I want to dogfight in a biplane. Hope they add it in, there are options for it...

Nice tips! I had no clue about the light tank's ability to drop health and ammo.

Agreed, the GUI is pretty nice and I was thinking "this really makes it look like a 2016 game".

The k bullets only do about 7-12 damage on a tank, so kinda useless there. Im sort of hoping you can snipe the driver, but I wasn't able to.

Biggest issue is shooting the horse only does about 13 damage. I didn't think to try with a k bullet though, so maybe that will make a difference. It also seems like bullets are really slow in this game?

It kept telling me to press v to zero the scope but I wasn't a le to figure out what that did? I guess meaning I don't have to compensate for distance? If so would like some kind of visual to indicate what I did.

I only played rush last night die to time. Map was meh. I'm not sure what it is just yet, but it doesn't really feel like a battlefield game to me for some reason. Probably have to play a bit more to see if I can determine why.

On the other hand it ran really well on my system with an older amd video card (7970).

Yea, K bullets are best against the troop transports and working with the assault class for picking off tanks. The K bullet hits the transports for around 20-28 damage a shot. The K bullet really shines to just stop the self repair for tanks since any damage stops the self repair process. Horses have a crazy health pool. Just go for the rider.

Yes, you need to compensate for bullet drag, drop and velocity.

If you press "V" look at the right hand side, it is hard to see, but the zeroing distance is shown. For the SMLE rifle, the default distances I saw were 75m, 150m, and 300m.

The problem with Rush for me in BF1 is that it is only 12v12. It really need to be 16v16 and have 1 less tank per side. That would open it up a bit more. The glaring issue at the moment is that if you arm the objective in rush, the round timer still has priority.

Got in a couple of rounds this morning before the servers went down again. Can we get Anonymous and wiki-leaks to go after and expose Poodlecorp?

My friends will be getting this for the ps4. I totally forgot about this beta too. I need to try it out on my PC.

Played it last night, not bad but definitely nothing really different than any of the previous 3 battlefields.

-I understand this is Beta...but I expected a lot more bolt action rifles. I mean a LOT more than just the Sniper. There were seas of Semi Autos and SMG/MGs.
-The train is silly and made me laugh. Toot toot!
-It's pretty...but so were the previous few. I don't really see any improvements other than it looks a lot like Battlefront which was pretty as well.
-Took a lot to kill people. I guess I'm spoiled/used to Project Reality/Squad/Red Orchestra but I expect a full sized battle cartridge to take someone down in one or two shots. But then again this is Battlefield so I can't knock it too much since that's how the gameplay has always been after BF2. Hardcore will fix that...I guess? "Bloody screen! SO REAL!"
-New door mechanic is pretty cool
-Only one map but I expected more trench warfare, artillery....1942 artillery specifically with spotters and everything.

My main gripe may seem silly to some but I think it's fairly simple: If you asked me 10 years ago what I thought Battlefield would be like in 10 years (while I was playing BF2) I'd tell you MMO type character customization...hair color, eye color, skin color....you name it, just not height. I'm curious as to why this hasn't been implemented yet since I do remember the tease leaks/daydreams or whatever people would post about how Battlefield 3 was supposed to have it as well as 100+ player servers.

Not a BAD game but it's definitely nothing new. I think I'd be more likely to buy it if it was WWII, but I'm partial to that time period.

Don't forget to buy new weapons at battlefield.com/career

Yesterday all the weapons weren't restricted by class level which was nice, but you can still load up on a few new things and all the grenades.

I cannot get into a game for the life of me. Server disconnected over and over again. This is ridiculous.
