The only gaming I get in is with my friends and we are all console...so all game purchases are a no brainer for me.

The graphics aren't really that much of a big improvement that I would care to notice on the PC more than a console. You can also use a ps4 or Xbox one controller.

The howitzer light tank is a beast. If I get into that thing it will take a whole squad working together to get me.

Which brings me to this point: Tanks are not that hard to kill in BF1. They are really easy to take down if you use just a little strategy and basic teamwork. You don't need a whole crew of assault classes to kill a tank, maybe one or two is enough as long as they are getting help from the other classes. Staying out of the drivers FOV, harassing them with K rounds and small grenades is more than enough to keep the tank from healing while the assault classes do their work. 1 point of damage is all it takes to keep a tank from healing, so just time your throw and you'll piss off the driver more than you know.

The howitzer light tank's heavy machine gun is a beast against infantry, but it's cannon is horrible when going against other tanks. It does heavy damage if you can land a hit, but it shoots at such a high arc that I cant hit anything with it reliably. It puts me in mind of a toddler lobbing a basketball. LOL

Personally, I love the arc. I've been practicing with it and I'm getting to the point where I can land trick shots over hills and rocks. Always a high chance I'll miss, but it's awesome to score a kill on a guy who tried hiding behind a hill. It's also awesome to get a squad mate to spot your shots while you hide behind cover. Useless for moving targets, but great for punishing troops swarming on a capture point.

One thing that boggles my mind is how effective the smoke screen is. If I take heavy damage, all I need to do is put up the smoke screen and suddenly everyone leaves me alone... I don't even move, but for some reason, no one even bothers tossing a grenade in the cloud to try and keep me from healing. Smoke clears and suddenly they're like "OMG! WHERE DID THAT TANK COME FROM!?"

been trying to play. don't know why. its the same as every other bf game. constantly killed out of nowhere. spawn and get killed immediately. snipers are the worst. seems everyone plays a sniper and you can't go anywhere without being sniped. as soon as you walk out a door or look out a window - BAM! sniped. guns make no sense. can be point blank with a full auto gun and the enemy has a pistol and he still wins. when i try to melee someone it takes like 3 hits but every time someone tries to melee me, it's 1 hit. pistols kill in like 2 shots but full auto guns take a whole mag.

Nah, it just feels that way, it's taking them just as many hits to kill you too. Some of the guns are garbage for sure, especially the early ones except for the scout's sniper, which is why nearly everyone is using it. Same with the melee club, it takes 2 or three hits while some of the later melee unlocks are one hit kills. All the BF games feel totally different from CoD, even though lots of people here have complained and compared the two since BF3, they are nothing alike IMO.

I've noticed this too with the auto weapons. I tried the automatico machine gun and it was too jumpy. The trench machine gun is alright but still, I need to dump about a full mag or at least half to get someone's health down.

I've had better chances as a sniper and mainly that's because the maps are huge. If you can find a good spot and aim decently you will get kills. The worst is when you pick an assault or support class and as soon as you start walking around you see a sniper reflection of the scope. I'm pretty much dead within seconds after that and if I run away it seems someone always shoots me in the back.

It just takes a lot of practice to get used to the maps and style of the game. It would be more fun to play with friends as any other mp game so im debating getting it on ps4 for that reason.

Also graphics on the PC aren't as stunning as I exoected and the controls are odd after playing the other bf games on console. But you can easily hook up a ps4 or Xbox one controller.

That's because sniping gets you nothing but a good k/d ratio and this is a team game. Work with a squad capturing flags and you will rack up levels quickly.

Normal rank ups give war bonds, class rank ups unlock more weapons for that particular class. Quickest way to get both is to get into a decent squad with a good squad leader who gives orders which greatly increases the points you get when capping and defending flags. Shotgun is really fun giving one hit kills in close quarters. I love running around in the buildings with it at the C flag.

Your scope glare will give you away every time, and once you are spotted its best to move and move quickly. lol

The light tank is a beast, just about anyone can go on a big kill streak with it as long as you hang back a bit to avoid getting stuck in tight quarters and being naded to death. And remember to fall back to a safe spot when hurt to repair by holding X. Also hitting 4 will drop a large crate of health and ammo for teammates which also gives more points.

I got to play quite a bit over labor day so I just hit rank 50 just a few mins ago.

But I'm about as good at BF as you are and don't play it. Doesn't make it a terrible game, it just isn't for us.

The hit detection is different than cod and I don't like cod at all. I mainly rent the series to play the single player I'm I'm bored.

Battlefield is more of a team based game and I've always found it easier to get kills using vehicles, etc. One thing I noticed is always try and shoot for the upper section rather than center point of the body. The guns aren't as powerful and a headshot is more likely that way.

I usually hate normal BF servers and pretty much stick to hardcore, but this beta is pretty good. Hardcore in this would be insta-gibs with a slap from a glove! I like the way the spotting is implemented too, which is another thing I hate in normal BF games.

Not to mention that the mg15 overheats (if going full auto) at around 75 rounds. MG's are only really good when using the bi-pod.

I can kinda get what pontifex is saying. It's real frustrating to someone who doesn't play these games a ton because you just get wasted quickly and constantly. I totally know what he's talking about because it's what I've pretty much experienced too, though I'm slowly getting better.

I think it's just a matter of practice, practice, practice (and more). I've been out of the BF games for years so basically have no skills. It's hard to hang in there though when you get raped so damn badly all the time.

Best thing to do is run with a regular group of guys. Running a squad enhances everyone's game play and makes you more effective. Trick is finding a group that has the same gaming habits as you.

Yeah that would definitely help. I always play in a squad when I play which is another exercise in frustration since so many are stupid as shit and half-filled with snipers. Normally I'll see what a squad is lacking and play that class, though I'm guessing that sort of mindset is unheard of in general, from what I see. But it's usually tolerable (or I switch squads) and sometimes you get a great one that actually works together. But a group of like-minded individuals would be awesome.

You know, at first, I wasn't too big on this game. After playing it for a week, I think it has the potential to be really fun.
