Had time to try out Operations yesterday. I really like this twist on Rush. Seems those that play operations are less likely to be K/D hogs. Did have instances of tanks hanging back and sniping instead of pushing the objective though.

Operations is a bit harder than rush. Last night I was on a horrible team. Most rounds last about 20-30 min but this team wiped us in 15 minutes.

I was playing 64 players though and the action was pretty insane. You really can't go anywhere without watching your back and the tanks plus the air ship later screwed us. I was surprised no one wanted to take out the tank.

I did get a lot of points for playing medic and running into explosions, gas, mortars, trying to revive and throw health at people because I was getting wrecked from long distance no matter where I went.

I think besides the amount of idiotic players that have no "team" perspective on how to play the game, it's really fun, and I haven't even played all of the modes or single player yet. I've only gotten one crash (figures, it was during a game when I was doing pretty good, thanks to a tank of course) where it froze mid-game and weird high pitched staticy sound started coming out of my speakers. Had to physically restart mah rig.

It's rather slow to get enough War Bonds to upgrade weapons but I don't play any more than 1 - 1.5 hours a day or so anyway, and I'm not very good on top of that. But I'm really enjoying it overall so far!

You do get points for revives I think 100 or something like that. You also get points for throwing out health packs/crates and once a team member uses it you get some more.

last night was playing domination and i needed ammo. saw a support guy laying prone shooting. went right beside him and spammed the need ammo thing like 10 times. no response. i started to shoot him in the head and spammed the need ammo thing again. no response. shot him some more. he looked at me, went back to shooting with no response or dropping ammo pouches/box.

also ave had medics run right over me or be like 4 meters away and then they just run away. then other times i'll get revived and die immediately because they revived me in front of a tank or some other enemy.

When I play support medic I am constantly dropping ammo or health and i try to get to teammates that need ammo or health.


oh, and is anyone else getting a black bar that won't go away when you get like a friend notification from origin? Have to close Origin or reboot to make it go away.

Yea if I'm playing medic in a crazy map with tons of enemies everywhere and I can't get many kills I'll just go around throwing health or trying to revive. This usually happens if I'm playing on a 64 player operations game.

Yea I joined your game after I saw your origin chat message. It really is tough to find a decent team and I was really surprised more people don't use a mic. Coming from playing most of my online games on a console you would think on PC it would be a bit more organized.

Random comments about previous posts, since im too lazy to quote.

It is possible that he didnt have an ammo pouch or crate in his kit....not sure what kind of person playing as a support would do such a such a thing, but it is possible. LOL

Same with medics and revives, I always carry health but there are some instances where I may switch the syringe for the rifle grenade.

I dont use a mic because I hate wearing a headset, and I find in game chatter annoying unless it sticks to the game and task at hand. But I try tpo play with my squad, and as a squad leader I try to give orders that will maximize our points and be most helpful to win the game.

Operations is my new favorite game mode.

Idiot team-mates make me very angry......the tank drivers who wont move up, with the team to cap objectives......the medic who wont medicate....the supports who dont support....the scouts who do nothing but waste ammo and wont even spot enemies......the assaults who ignore vehicles.....RAGE!!!!

Just finished playing my 2nd hour on the 10 hour demo. So far, honestly, I hate it. It's far too chaotic to be enjoyable for me. The last BF game I played was BF2 so I've been away from the series for a long time. I don't like the direction it's gone at all.

I have no idea where I'm going or what I'm doing. Every single death was to infantry enemies I can't see camping in the distance or in some crater around the blind corner on these claustrophobic maps. There is so much shit going on I can't get my bearings or make any sense of it all. I'm finding it really frustrating and not fun. Maybe I'm just getting old...

Is there no way to host your own sever just to try to learn the maps? I'd love to try driving a tank or plane - so far I haven't seen a single one available so I haven't been able to.

Which game mode are you playing? The 64-player maps are chaotic and can get pretty nutty. Try some of the smaller maps. 40-player operations or Rush maps are generally a bit less crazy. Try out all the game modes, maybe one is more what you want.

Also claustrophobic map? Only the city maps are that way, maybe the forest one. Don't use quick match, use the server browser and look specifically for one of the desert maps, they are generally pretty open.

As far as I know you can only use official servers right now. Look around on the server browser for an empty server to join to try a vehicle. It can be a little easier to find a vehicle on the smaller game modes also.

That said, this game is not for everyone.

Yeah, its very chaotic and i die the same way all the time. If i try to do the same thing i get killed immediately because someone spawned behind me.

When I first played battlefield that's how I felt too. Try the 24 or 40 player game sizes. As for the maps, you were probably stuck in one of the smaller domination maps. Most I've played on are pretty open. Flying a plane is really hard with the mouse, just so you know.

If you press c you can get the camera to zoom out more but you still have to pitch up and down with the mouse which in my case doesn't seem to work too well.

Well, that sucks. Messing with the settings first time loading it up, went to check the graphic settings. Just scrolling through the details options automatically changed them. Ended up crashing when scrolling to Ultra -- my card is old and only does DX 11. Didn't BSOD which was nice.

Edit: And I get a nice reminder that my AMD 6850 is below the minimum specifications every time I load the game -- found out from googling that my card has been moved to the "legacy" aisle, lol. It works but I'm getting flashing/flickering on the screen. Runs silky smooth on low, think I could bump things up but haven't tried yet. Too cheap/lazy to upgrade.

Man you nailed it there, so many frustrating team members. I think the useless tank drivers has the highest rage factor as it potentially screws the whole round.

Do AT folks get together and squad up? I'd be nice to have some teammates that understand objectives and class roles.

I try to join friends online but few are usually playing during my odd playing hours. I get to squad up with Canbacon from here more than anyone, and we work pretty well together.


And now another turrible teammate story, this morning's idiot takes the cake!!!

While playing Operations we were attacking and slicing thru them like butter, had 3 superb rated attacks (id never saw that before) before we were finally stopped for the first time. Then next round the defenders got a train (WTF, never saw that before either) which covered a wide open flag which in turn stopped us again. Now we get the train for the final push, and lo and behold a total window licking moron gets in the driver's seat, he helps cap flag A, but then just sits there......he wont move up to cover B which is on high ground and surrounded by their entire team since this is their final stand. We still came close to capping it a couple times but came up short. Now if that idiot train driver would have listened to any of the polite asking that soon turned into venomous RAGE being hurled his way by half the server, and had moved up just a little so the gunners could have helped us...................@$$%&*$(^*%&)(&%&%*()%^$^&*@@@!%%%###!!!!!

I swear i get on more useless teams than not and always the losing teams. No heals, no ammo, cant drive, cant cap, got onto a squad of 3 scouts etc, just camp 1 spot, etc.

I was playing medic a bit last night trying to use the mondragon and the starter rifles and i could barely hit anyone. Shots just either kept missing or not registering and it was really pissing me off.
1 funny thing that happened was that me and like t other guys were running to a cap point and not sure what happened but all 5 died right in front of me so i got a bunch of quick revives, lol.
