Man, the "children" online... Seeing more and more people whining about campers, telling others they suck then challenging them to 1v1, liberal use of the N-word, calling people f**gots. And I have my VOIP turned off/muted. Would hate to know what people are yelling into their mics.

I've noticed this in chat. I don't have a mic but the game shows a speaker icon next to my username in game. Not sure why that is there. I thought about hooking up the ps4 gold headset to my PC to use it but unless I get on a good team that actually communicates, I'm not going to bother.

is there a way to make origin make a noise when someone messages you? It makes noises when people log in or play a game, but not when they message me and I don't see a way to enable this.

I've been doing it... At 1920x1200, I'm using 70% resolution scaling, low everything. The only bad thing is that I get textures flickering/flashing every so often. Not sure if it's memory related or drivers -- I haven't updated my drivers because I have one of the last ones before my card became a "legacy" product.

I think I'm CPU limited because my GPU doesn't go past 71 C and it goes to around 80 C when it's being actually stressed.

And I just discovered the weapon "buying" screen......... No idea how to actually buy anything despite having enough war bonds and a green bar.

Edit: And this is annoying. For the past few days, the game has become unresponsive on the Home screen. The background graphics work, I can move the mouse, but the menu buttons don't work. I think it may be related to the online-linked boxes and the server problems people have been talking about here.

Quad-Core fixes the problems I mistakenly attributed to the Radeon 7750.

have to do it via origin, no way to do it in game, which is beyond stuupid.

weird, sound notification for incoming chat is on but i never hear anything, unless its just fro the first incoming message.

Finally got this game! Little disappointed in the apparent lack of servers to join at the moment, but I've not had a hard time!e getting into game. Has run very well on my aging hardware.

However, this game does a rather poor job of detailing how unlocks and upgrades work, or really anything that's related to your character. I think I've figured it out, but took me googling to do so.

Still trying to tweak key bindings and wondering if it's possible to set it so I can scroll through all of my equipped items? I hate reaching for numerous buttons or trying to bind them to my mouse (game only detects some of the buttons)

This is getting kind of annoying. Hopefully the childish chat crap calms down as folks move on to shiny new titles. As for VoIP though, I've only seen squads use it a handful of times but when we did it was actually really effective.

Since the dawn of online multiplayer gaming, there has been childish chat crap. It will never go away.

I use a headset/mic when gaming, and so far in BF1, I have had one squad who really was on point when it came to communications in game. Even if they don't have mics, if I ask for health or ammo through voice, I am typically met in chat with a STFU noob, or something of that ilk. Other than gaming with clannies/friends on Teamspeak, I don't expect voice chat to ever develop into a useful squad tool.

True. In general my experience has been, the longer a BF game is out, the less ridiculous the crap. Never gone, but not a constant stream of garbage.

Interesting, I have always seen the same from day 1 to the next release. In actuality, it seems to get worse as the game ages. When a game is fresh and new, it seems many are excited and generally optimistic. They tend not to take in game deaths and such to heart. Once it becomes stale however, it seems that this is when personalities start to clash more. Near the end of a game's run, when it becomes a few dollars to purchase is when I notice that it REALLY seems to go downhill.

As I think about it more, probably comes down to server selection more than anything. I tend to narrow things down to <10 or so servers that I like and "people not being morons" is one of the selection criteria.

Once it gets later in the release cycle it tends to be the same folks on the server week after week and generally things are pretty civil.

Ya, there's always childish crap. Back in the day when there weren't official servers (or as many?), I found like one regular server I liked and almost always stuck with it. There were a-holes but.... wait a second.

Maybe it's because I'm older now and can't stand "children" -- who are in actuality teenagers and 20+ year olds. Hearing a pre-puberty voice is one thing. Hearing a post-puberty voice act like a child is something else. It's why I turn off VOIP now.

This has been my experience also. BF4 chatter was horrific after it was free with Origin Access, and was actually even worse in game text chat.

I am really getting frustrated with certain things. For instance flying planes and AA. If i fly a plane, i get shredded by AA or other planes instantly, but it seems like i can never shoot down a plane with another plane or AA. I Can unload into them and go through cooldown multiple times and they are still flying like nothing happens. I can see my shots hitting so its not like I'm missing.

Probably have someone on your tail the whole time in the plane and that guy might also gave a gunner with him. If you press c you can view the plane from third person mode which should help when flying. Someone also mentioned making the pitch up spacebar so that you don't have to turn and go up/down all at once with the mouse. I rarely fly the planes but I shot one down with the light tank before.

I can absolutely murder on the AA gun, I got all the requirements for the stationary weapon medal in one and a half games with it. The biggest problem is getting sniped off of it, but on some maps if you have a good team holding certain flags, you can stay relatively safe.

My son is a decent pilot (i cant seem to fly at all in this game) so I rack up a lot of kills gunning for him. His main gun and mine simultaneously firing on a smaller plane can shred it in no time, bombers are pretty tough and take more effort to bring down. Its also pretty easy to kill people off the AA guns from the gunner seat too, I know where they are and they cant run fast enough. hehe

I brought a bomber down with a Behemoth's AT gun once... It was flying extremely low and slow, right past where I was aiming already.

I'm terrible at flying. Would help if I had a joystick or controller. Instead, I use the keyboard and don't know what I'm doing.
