Installed and played beta today for a few minutes, not disappointed, buts yeah nothing new, same old graphics and maps and terrain, just that its set in WW2 time frame? ethnically diversity set of characters, older nostalgic weapon... I may even buy it during thanks giving - Christmas time whenever it goes on sale.

I probably played for about 15 minutes, did not have any issues with gameplay or connection. Had a good experience.

I played two rounds, it was fun. Haven't bought a new bf around launch since bf3. I will purchase a week after launch if its not screwed up.

Yea, K bullets are best against the troop transports and working with the assault class for picking off tanks. The K bullet hits the transports for around 20-28 damage a shot. The K bullet really shines to just stop the self repair for tanks since any damage stops the self repair process. Horses have a crazy health pool. Just go for the rider.

Yes, you need to compensate for bullet drag, drop and velocity.

If you press "V" look at the right hand side, it is hard to see, but the zeroing distance is shown. For the SMLE rifle, the default distances I saw were 75m, 150m, and 300m.

The problem with Rush for me in BF1 is that it is only 12v12. It really need to be 16v16 and have 1 less tank per side. That would open it up a bit more. The glaring issue at the moment is that if you arm the objective in rush, the round timer still has priority.

Yeah I played some more yesterday and figured a lot of that out. Conquest is imo far more fun on that map than rush.

K bullets work quiet well against the car transporter, I was able to blow one up which was satisfying.

The semirandom sand storms are a nice touch.

Biggest gripe is I wish I could equip the cavalry 1895 rifle on my assault class. I ended up sniping with it better than the marksman rifle.

Yea, it sucks that the Assault class doesn't get a DMR or Bolt Action rifle. I resorted in using the pump action shotgun as it is more effective at the ranges the SMG is used at. Also, at point blank range it just one shots people, good for cleaning out houses in the town.

The Medic, Selbstlader M1916 Sharpshooter is really nice, much better than the default DMR the Medic starts with.

The MG15 n.A. Suppressive is again much better than the stock weapon the Support has. The great thing about the MG15 is that is more accurate and has a 200 round belt.

After all that hype about the WW1 timeframe, I can't believe how it feels like Battlefront with a 1930's-ish skin.

How does every class start with a automatic weapon, except of course the sniper class. They couldn't even get the defining infantry level feature to feel like WW1.

It feels like I'm playing Battlefield4/Battlefront with a WW1 skin.

No matter what they would've done, people would've complained. Despite the prevalence of non-automatic weapons during World War I, I'm guessing they went this route because of faster, more enjoyable gameplay for a majority of people. But now people complain about the lack of slow, bolt-action weapons. If they would've done that, you would've had, I'm betting, even more people complaining about that. If we want to get technical about history, there were plenty of automatic weapons around at the time of World War I.

COD1 started it all with the bolt action 1 shot 1 kill madness. I don't remember anyone complaining then, I certainly didn't. All this was before the whole regenning health nonsense too.

I don't think many people would really be complaining. High damage/low fire rate trade off balances things off especially well during close quarters battle.

It is not a WW1 simulator. It is an FPS set in WW1. It still has some cool WW1 touches like gas grenades and horses. Will have to wait and see what kind of maps they put out. Hopefully they add more trenches, would be interesting to have a pure trench map.

i cant stop laughing at ravic trolling people with a syringe.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EapWVRLR0ec

but i bet you when the dev's saw ravic syringe a tank and kill the driver, they probably went:

"OH shoot, how did we miss this one..."

this plays pretty nice on a phenom x4/hd6870 1gb/1080p. had to do a registry edit to get the drivers to work.

pretty fun but there are alot of bugs cropping up between periods where the gameplay is fine
just a few i could remember
-no loadout whatsoever
-scrambled keys after playing normally for a while ( Q becomes forward, S becomes left, etc )
-no scores

The graphics on that video looked way worse than anything else I've seen. Is it because it's old or because of a lower end computer?

Youtube compression is pretty bad in that video. Also, it could be that Ravic had to turn down the GFX setting's to free up resources to capture video (really CPU heavy) and still keep his FPS high enough.

I played the beta for 20 minutes this am...

For keyboard bindings, it seems you can't have 'zoom' / aim-down-the-sight as 'toggle'... you have to hold the binded key. I don't like that and hope that changes.

Or, am I missing something and that it will toggle somehow?

Anyone have the audio sounding really scratch? Like the music and everything sounds like so much static.

Performance is great I guess getting 80-100 fps on 2560x1440p ultra settings. Although graphics are kind of crappy.

My favorite class so far is scout but the aim and reloading is pretty slow. Hit detection can also be off at times. A few bugs where I was moving so slow for no reason. As for the assault class I can only use that on very close range.

Wish it looked a bit better and didn't have the sound issues. I also must have unloaded a full clip into someone but just barely grazed him. But then again that's been there in previous battlefield games.

I had this problem in bf3 as well, I assumed I was because both functions are binding to the same key... Never looked hard enough for the solution... Will do some more research today

Caught the no-weapon bug and unable to play. Sucks because beta has turned into training season for most of these games. If you don't put in enough time, you will get rolled when it launches.

I have had that no weapon bug twice. First time I just ran around and used vehicle weapons. Second time I had already unlocked some of the weapons and was able to equip those, just not the default ones.

Is there a way to customize the weapons as in choose different ones for your class? The character tab on the main menu is disabled.

If you get the no weapon bug, it is a broken server. Exit and join a different server.

The biggest annoyance so far in the open portion of the beta is the tendency of people just going to C and doing TDM. I can't count how many times I join a server and the squad leader doesn't put orders out or just leaves it on C to fight there.

Go to https://www.battlefield.com/career. You should be able to customize all your kits from there.

Is it just me, or are respawn times getting longer? Trying to encourage people to use the medics more?

What registry edit? I have a 6850 and tells me it won't work even when installing newer drivers. Getting a 1070 soon because my current card sucks with my Asus 34" widescreen, but won't get it for about two weeks. Want to try it out now.

Even before playing... bought the ultimate edition. :/
