People don't see to carry anti-tank rifles or rockets. I went online for the first time last night and people only tossed grenades at me.

The desert maps I've played so far are the best. Jungle/forest are hard just because it's hard to spot anything.

I always have an anti tank rifle in my assault class but it's very annoying to use always having to go prone. I should check and see if I can upgrade it.

The default Support rifle is terrible. Definitely upgrade it the instant you get the chance.

I agree - especially if you are color blind like me. They might as well be animated foliage.

That only helps with the UI. The map and people in it will not get different colours. So red/green colour blind people will just see shades of grey.

You can use it on a window ledge or some other ledge from what i can tell. You have to make it deploy the bipod.

ok, how do you quit the game? If a match ends, I press the quit button and get a black screen with a spinning circle in the top right indefinitely. I can hear game noises very faintly so it seems like I am not fully out of the game. I have to kill the bf1 process in task manager to quit.

I always press the little power off icon on the bottom left and it usually exits fine. The latest patch should have fixed that issue because I experience what you describe quite a few times before the patch.

you can't get the power button until you quit out of the current game. when i try to quit out of the game at the end of match screen, thats when it happens.

Despite the 2 GB VRAM and 8 System RAM requirement, I got BF1 multiplayer running on my wife's i3-2120 / 6GB / Radeon 7750 1GB machine, and I didn't even have to mess with anything like a CFG file to do it.

For the Mount Grappa map at 1080p, medium settings is doable for the 'ol cut down Cape Verde GPU (runs ~30 FPS) until it hit the obvious memory limit and has to swap in/out textures & data. Of course the system memory was completely saturated too, likely contributing to the problem, but not as much as the VRAM was.

1080p, Low settings is definitely the only real way to go if you're stuck with such a paltry graphics card in terms of VRAM, and setting resolution to 720p freed up even more VRAM, got it down to ~900 MB in use.

The Empire's Edge map was much more unforgiving, as 720p and all lowest settings still created a stutter nightmare at times. However, from a purely objective point of view, the Radeon 7750 is still quite a performer when it has enough VRAM. I really have to give props to DICE for optimizing the hell out of the game.

I tried out the Domination (?) game and hated it. It was just Conquest minus vehicles which was turned it into deathmatch or like CoD which I suck hard at.

Going to have to try Operations again at some time. First time I did, I got put on a server with no people.

Game is running smooth now at low settings and ~75% resolution scaling. Meh, really don't feel like upgrading. The flashing textures is annoying though -- glad I don't have epilepsy. The video settings interface is horrible: no drop-down, scroll only and once scrolled on, it automatically applies the setting. Makes it hard to see what's available without potentially crashing my game/system.

I haven't been able to get on either. Looked at the Battlefield forums and definitely looks like a big outage. Probably more losers doing DDoS on the servers.

I completely closed out of everything, even origin. when i went back in, it said there was cloud stuff that wasn't synced. gave me the option to play now so I did that and i got in right away.

TDM medal is out of the way now too!

Damn that sucks. Went out last night but tonite I feel like staying in and playing only to hear about this outage. Hopefully it's fixed soon. I guess I'll start the story mode.

Yeah I haven't been able to login to Origin for several hours. Goddamnit... figures. It's the weekend and I can stay up late and play, and it's down. I agree with an earlier poster in that I think it's some losers doing DDoS again.

It's back online this morning. Although the cloud saves must have been corrupted or I started it in offline mode last night, because it was asking what it should do with my saves. It didn't lose my progress.

Maybe it's just my bad luck today but it appears the plebs are figuring out that everyone can equip a gas mask because I'm not racking up the random gas grenade kills that I'd been enjoying since release.

Gas...oh how I hate thee!!! That mask ruins my field of view!

And there's always that one idiot teammate who is constantly spamming gas grenades on flags, even when there's not an enemy within 5 miles.

Yeah the gas spammers drive me nuts. I don't mind the idea of the grenade, and I feel it can be used tactically. I do feel however that 4 people sit on an ammo pack and turn half the map in to a cloud of gas. Same deal with incendiaries. They need to tweak timers or something.

As far as the shotguns go, I don't know why people feel they are OP? From a closer distance, they can one shot. They SHOULD. Once you get 20-30 meters out, you need 2-3 shots to kill, and from 50-100 you could wind up needing 5-7 shots to kill, enough time to get further out of range of the gun. That doesn't seem so OP to me. I hear people say in game that they got one shot from 75-200m out and they are just entirely full of crap. No shotgun will one shot you from that distance in this game.

The Rocket Gun on the assault class is a ton of fun, and I equip it 100% of the time over dynamite. Useful on vehicles for sure, and it is usable in a lot more scenarios than I currently see it used.

I do much better with support weapons than the medic ones. I've unlocked about 6 of them trying to find one that suits me.
