Battlefield 1942 Crashes whenever I try to load a map.

Who knows? BF1942 is the buggiest goddamn game.

Try a total uninstall/reinstall. A PITA, but sometimes fixes the problem.

The other issue may be bad RAM (this was my problem). Memtest will answer this question for you. I had one bad 256 stick; as soon as I replaced it the game runs fine.

I've never had this happen to me before, but it happened just yesterday after a few maps of play.

Not sure what caused it.

I'm using the Cat 3.7s with my 9800 Pro even since the Call of Duty fiasco.

I could never get that game to run. Had plenty of ram, proc power, latest drivers on my ATI7500 and it would lock my whole system up where i would have power off.

Well, these are the bugs I've had with DC:

The Guadalcanal map will not load at all. It simple shuts the game off and kicks me back to the desktop. This is a pity because it's one of my faves.

The Iwo Jima map randomly kicks me back to the desktop. Usually when ever I'm having the most fun.

52.16 Forceware drivers caused huge missing and blinking textures. Cured by getting other drivers.

That would give him an error message, not crash him back to desktop. He's got some other issue going on.

I'm using 1.5 of BF and .5 or whatever the latest DesertCombat is.

I might've been playing on a server that wasn't up to date, though.

No, many times it will just kick you back to desktop. It is suppoed to give a "Data Differs From Server" error if you are out of date, but a lot of times it doesn't. I go to 100+ person LANs that have 60+ person BF tourneys.... so I have seen a lot of different examples.

It happens to me sometimes too. Most of the time it's a temperature issue believe it or not. The My Geforce 4600 heats up a lot when I play 1942 and heats up the rest of the system too. If you've got a card that runs hot check air flow to it and check your system temp after playing the game for a while. You could leave your case open or something. If it's doing it every time though I'm thinking video drivers.

Is it Only in DC? or just the reg BF1942? or other mods? what map are you trying to load specificly ? sounds to me like its just some software compatability issues. (older versions of things to newer versions) so hard to keep up with all the updates........


BTW what video card are you using???

I've had that happen to me, too. It would start with DC, then any time I tried to play BF after that it would just quit after loading about 2/3 of the map. Reinstalling fixed it for a time, then DC would start it happening again.
Come to think of it, though, I haven't had that problem since DC 0.6F came out.
