I saw it at this price in-store, and I just checked online.

Awesome game. I can't imagine it will be around long at this price.

BF2 is more team, squad oriented (but you can be a lone wolf too). It's an entirely different game in my opinion- much better. COD2 is a better single player game, but BF2 is a better multiplayer game. Each side has a commander who can resupply, give orders, & fire artillery. If you join a squad, you can respawn at your squad leader; he can request supplies from the commander. It really is a lot of fun. I've been playing BF 2142 lately, but I'll still be playing BF2. It has lots of staying power. One of the best MP/FPS out there. I'm sure there are some out there who would disagree. Again, COD2 is a better SP game; BF2 is a better MP game.

My guess would be more GPU intensive. You really need to have a lot of RAM. Although you don't have to run it with a Gig of RAM, I'd recommend at least that much. I have a Gig in a half. Many say it runs best on 2 Gigs.

You can run COD2 in DX7 mode whereas in BF2, its DX9

as for the quality of the game I think i like BF2 even more than BF2142. The chopper action does it for me, but all around $20 is a damn good deal, this game will be around for a few years to come to be sure.

This game is killer, COD2 MP doesn't compare imo and COD2 looks better maxed out, but requires a really nice system to crank everything up. I really enjoy playing the game, but it gets really frusterating when you can't get any kills. $20 is a killer price for this game.

Also note, that BF2 is primarily a MP game. I think I've fired up the Singleplayer *cough* "Campaign" once. It's really just you and squad, in a huge environment, trying to capture the control points...just like MP. There is no storyline in BF2 at all.

So don't buy it to play anything substantial from the singleplayer perspective.

Wow, $20. I love this game. I refuse to buy 2142 with its spyware and plan on keep playing BF2. The special forces add-on really is the only expansion worth paying for and is quite a bit harder (night and gas). If RAM is a prob on your system, there is a page that shows you how to cut out the startup videos by simply renaming the files and does not effect gameplay. You load multiplayer and go straight to your logon screen. Also remember to get the updates from EA - very important!

I have the BF2 and it is fun to play. It is taxing in the GPU though. I am waiting until March 14th to buy the "Battlefield 2 Complete Collection" which is going to be around 40.00/ It will have all the packs included for a great price.

i have had bf2 since the beginning and have all the expansions. the game just kicks a$$, but what is sad is ea/dice's support for it. the more they patched the buggier it got ea/dice also didn't control/get rid of the cheaters, and i am not saying that because i get owned, i don't - i do pretty good with a K ratio of ~ 1.73:1 and am not a plane/helo whore. if ea/dice did their job they could have not even release 2142 and kept this game going @ $40 for another year, but screwed it up with putting there effortst into 2142.

just my opinion. sadly they game was in its best form up until patch 1.12, after that the patches created more issues than they fixed, but if you are just now jumping in and not have been there and seen the different changes the patches have made, you will not know the difference....

The "spyware" you're talking about is ingame advertising on a few billboards that are part of the game. They use your IP to determine your region and show adverts that they think would be appropirate. This allows them to show Japanese adverts to people in Japan, and American adverts to people in America....

Also, they're now showing artwork submitted by users in addition to adverts.


Yeah, yeah... I don't like advertising either, but billboards are part of the game and just because you see an advert for the "2007 Subaru Forester" instead of a generic car ad, that doesn't make it spyware.....
