But i can retype the any of the user names i tried to create with and redoing it again still shows them available. So their not even existing.

thats the problem. go back and re read. its just an endless loop.
and no i'm using Chrome, but i also tried IE.

Hmm, perhaps you have missed something? Retry, read everything, make sure all necessary fields are filled, check all necessary boxes, etc. Could be a problem with the Server or maybe your Spam Filter has sent the confirmation E-Mail to the Trash?

I'd like to set primary weapon to mouse scroll wheel up, and secondary to scroll wheel down but doesn't seem to work. Is the scroll wheel hard coded to cycle thru all your weapons?

I have IE9 and logging in just brings me back to the log in page for Battlelog. Works fine for FF. Are you trying to log into Battlelog or just Origin?

My wheel-down exhibits the same issue as yours.

I have my weapons/ accessories bound to specific keys, and wanted to use wheel-down to change firing modes. :\

I'm quite happy the 360 controller works perfectly in the full version. So much easier to fly choppers. I suck with it in jets, but I'm quite nimble in the choppers.

Is there a setting to adjust joystick sensitivity? The choppers seem very slow in turning and moving in general. Not sure if that's just the way it is or my joystick needs to be adjusted.

There are 2 sensitivity settings in the menu. One is for the mouse the other is for joysticks/gamepad. The bottom one in the menus is for joysticks.

Can you tell me how you've setup your buttons for flight?

I just discovered the "toggle" buttons for weapons/equipment. They are located further down the list in button selection screen. This allows you to have one button switch between two items (similar to the way weapon selection works in Crysis 2). I really like toggling, and while I am still re-learning from the old way, I am more efficient with fewer keys to press.
Here are my current settings:
WASD for movement
1 - toggle between primary and secondary
2 - select fire mode (semi, burst, auto)
z - toggle first gadget
x - toggle second gadget
ctrl - hold for prone
c - toggle crouch
f - toggle light/laser
q - spot
e - use equipment
I am also using G700 as a mouse. I like to configure the side thumb buttons to select grenade and toggle between under barrel attachment).

That's not a bad quick switch but I'd prefer to be able to set it up manually. Usually for engy I'm switching back and forth between rockets and primary more than I would primary and pistol. Or if I'm riding a tank I'd do primary and repair tool. Definitely give it a go for assault though. Thanks.

I think recon gets 2 gadgets. IE spawn beacon/motion sensor.

Toggling gadgets toggles between a gadget and your primary weapon. You only have a maximum of two gadgets, but depending on a loadout, only one may be equipped. Each gadget has its own key binding (gadget 1 and gadget 2).

Rockets to primary is also toggleable. IIRC, rockets (for engineers) is considered to be an "under barrel" launcher. There is a key toggle for that too.

I don't have BF3, but WASD maybe a convenient location, spatially speaking, but it's rather vague for the Noob. You either have to just use it until it's natural or you change the Keys to a more unique location. Which is why I always use the Arrow keys for movement, then bind the keys around that area to various tasks, like this:

Up/Down: Forward/Back
Left/Right: Strafe Left/Right
CTRL: Jump
Shift: Crouch
Enter: Use
Insert: Reload
Delete: Drop Weapon or Prone

Then other keys in the Editing and Numpad sections are used for more unique to game commands.

You're right about the MouseWheel being an issue for Clicking. I wish Game Developers would quit Defaulting MMB with stuff, because Pointer Devices adopted a crappy compromise, not too big a deal, but still annoying as the Game gets designed(somewhat) around these decisions(aka-switching to Melee should be very quick and almost requiring no thought or caution).

+1 for me. I use the same binds

I like using my two thumb mouse buttons on my MX518 for crouch and prone.

I have the same mouse and have had a hell of a time mapping anything to those buttons...I should try the crouch and see if it actually maps...

did you have to do anything special to get it working or did it just work for you?

I have the set point drivers installed but haven't been able to get it working...same with the mouse sensitivity buttons

Those two buttons work for me w/o issue (in my case reload and chuck nade). I have the mouse input set to Raw. If I remember I had issues getting them to work when I turned that off.

I have a Logitech G5 (similar to MX 518), and for the buttons that the game doesn't recognize on its own I simply map those to keyboard keys with the Logitech software. For example, I have the left and right tilt wheel mapped to ']' and '\', and then I just map ']' and '\' to whatever I want the tilt wheel to do. You can set these bindings to be app specific or system wide in the Logitech software.

For those of you using the Xbox 360 controller, are you using the wired or wireless? I have the wireless controller and a receiver which works flawlessly for everything else, but I can't get it working with BF3.

Took me a while to find a solution but you need to go into your device manager and UNINSTALL all virtual HID devices. I suspect these are related to logitech products as I use a 518 and g18 keyboard, and this appears to be a common factor among the reports Ive seen.

when I go into my device manager I have things like the following...

under Human Interface Devices
HID non-user input data filter (kb911895)
HID non-user input data filter (kb911895)
HID-Compliant device
Logitech USB G3 (MX518) Optical Mouse
USB Input Device

Mice and Other pointing devices
HID-compliant mouse
Logitech HID-Complant G3/MX518 Optical Mouse

Where these some of the entries you would remove / uninstall and if so which ones?

I'm looking for a better system to select and switch between weapons.

  • I find the number keys 1-3 are too far from WASD and too slow if you are in the middle of a firefight... I don't want to take my left hand off WASD to switch weapons.
  • I tried left ALT for toggling between primary and secondary, this was mostly good, except there were times I wanted to go directly to my pistol. With the toggle key I needed to press it twice to get to my pistol.
  • I also tried mouseup = primary, mousedown = pistol. Don't find it natural since I'm used to scrolling with my second finger which also happens to be the trigger pulling finger on the left mouse button.
Does anyone have good suggestions they'd like to share?

Do any of you do any weapon bindings on your mouse? I'm currently using an old Logitech dual optical mouse with only a single left thumb button that's bound to sprint, but was thinking of a buying a new G500...
edit - some people are having mouse stuttering & lag on the G700/500. Any logitech users here?

I use WASD but am going to change everything to ESDF this weekend.

Who? What's so special about it?

---

I discovered (honestly, new to me) marking. It's Q by default and it's really addictive, not to mention helpful. Everything I spot any sort of enemy, I press Q. It helps mark the guy for your team. But I noticed that other people aren't marking or at least it doesn't seem like it. What are your guys' thoughts?

Not many people use it. Here's a small tip using spotting, at least for me.. BF3 is gorgeous and super hard to spot people sometimes with all the eye candy. If I'm checking out an open area while about to run out in the open I'll look around and repeatedly hit the spotting button. A lot of times it'll spot someone that I never saw making it an easy target.
