I just played a few rounds. All settings on Ultra, AA maxed, everything turned up except for motion blur off.

Shame on Crytek. Far improved from the alpha. This game looks amazing, best looking game I have ever seen, indoor scenes are incredible on this engine, Crysis 1 has a small edge on outdoor areas, but kudos to Dice - the graphics are phenomenal, the gameplay is great and the engine is much nicer than BFBC2.

The game runs much better than Crysis 2 does as well, getting about 80-90fps outdoors 100-110 indoors, no big spikes anywhere either. A smooth, consistent feeling from the engine.

This sounds promising, although there is quite a large gap between our setups.

I just hope my CPU can handle it for the time being, until I decide to build a new rig...

Good to see performance is way better than it was in the Alpha. Waiting for somebody with a more low end card (5870/6870) to say how it runs.

I think he means looking far better than alpha not better performance.

My feelings exactly. Killer job on the engine, just shows that crytek is great at making horribly unoptimized and inefficient game engines.

Its the DX11 implementation that is unoptimized. Pre 1.9 patch, the game runs amazingly well and looks great in Dx9.

Who makes an engine for 2011 without DX 11 implementation? Crytek lulz.

I don't have early access see you all on the battlefield on the 29th .

This game is obscenely hungry for VRAM. I show about 1400-1450MB usage. I had to reduce AA to 2x samples because I started to get hitching.

Users playing at 1080P are having the same problems with 1GB cards and needing to reduce settings to get the VRAM usage down.

Anyone planning on trying to play this on 3 monitors should aim to have 2GB 6950/6970 cards or the 3GB GTX 580s.

would it be wise to sit on my 4850 and wait for AMD 7 series? or should I jump on a 6950 now. I've already sat on this card for 3 years... what's another 4 months right?

with 10.5 years and nearly 15,000 posts, you should know more info is needed.

Is this 32 players? Someone mentioned on another forum 64player and Caspian Border was due for PC tomorrow.

I would of thought 64 players would drop the frame rate right down.

My 4890 (rig in sig below) is getting about 25-35 fps with mostly medium settings (texture high, shadows low). I can do a formal fraps average and post more concrete results later, as I'm betting my rig is similar to some on this thread wondering if an update is in order. I plan on updating for sure, just debating on whether or not to wait until 7000 series.

part of your problem is your cpu though. you are already limiting the 4890 and would severally limit a 7 series gpu in this game.

Yes, was thinking about that. Just wanted to try the game out before I built something new.

You think 3 cores at 3.6Ghz is limiting a 4890? I could see it limiting a high end 6000 or 7000 series card, but didn't think it would be a limiting factor on a 4890.

yeah its probably not limiting the 4890 enough to really matter.

This is good news. Although this is only 32 player as far as I'm aware, so FPS would drop a lot with 64 players.

My rig is similar i7 920 d0/UD4P, though I haven't overclocked my i7 920 d0, maybe it's time I'll have to do it.

You have a GTX 480 Tri SLI setup and you were concerned about performance?

Man if you can't run this game on all high settings with that kind of setup then that would be really really sad

And with tanks, choppers and jets blowing stuff up too. That will hurt performance quite a bit I'd imagine.

I was reading the EA forums and apparently the recommended specs is for playing on medium. I lost the thread but it's out there somewhere.
