While some people have received $5 online gift cards for B&N (but addressed by orders@gamestop???) I haven't heard of anyone actually having their order canceled. I read the following post at slick deals.
And who knows. Maybe we'll actually get the game for the posted price!
Based on that I'm thinking maybe the B&N and Gamestop think the blame rests with the other. Really I'm surprised neither company has taken some action regarding it. If they realized (and they should have given the volume of orders) the mistake early on and sent out cancellation notifications it wouldn't be that big a deal. I'm wondering what ramifications waiting this long will have if, if any.I have received NO gift card, nor has my order been cancelled.
I called Gamestop this morning to find out what the deal is, and when I could expect to get my beta key. They informed me that I needed to speak with Barnes and Noble about any issues, and the CSR seemed amused by the idea that we wanted the game for the posted price.
I then called B&N, and asked them. They seemed surprised that Gamestop had an issue with it. The B&N CSR's supervisor is currently 'researching it' for me, and will send me an email within 24 hours. I mentioned the legal issues that California raises, and she seemed ... not concerned exactly, but certainly like she had been thrown off her stride a bit.
And who knows. Maybe we'll actually get the game for the posted price!
