According to their website, there's a demo out for this game now. Any opinions/comments? I'm seriously considering dusting off my Xbox360 to pick this game up when it's available June 25.

EDIT - I'm a retard. The game was released today.

Can we get a new expression for "playing a console you haven't played in a while"?

I'm really tired of "dusting off" or it's passive variant - "collecting dust".

Even if the console is just sitting in your living room, literally gathering dust, I doubt you'd clean it off before playing it.

I'm open to suggestions for an alternative.

To the OP - no, I haven't played it. Sorry to be completely useless to you.

It is in fact dusty. Just to prove a point to you, if I do in fact buy this game, I'll dust it off for you and update my thread.

Excellent. Making living rooms around the world cleaner - one post at a time.

I played the demo and it wasn't too bad. I guess there are a few parts (according to reviews) that make people lulz quite a bit. It seems like a more entertaining shooter than their more serious counterparts. I plan on getting this one in a few months when it's cheap on eBay.

Played it. Hated it.

I was a fan of the original BF2 on PC for a while, then it became extremely tiresome and started to feel more and more unbalanced as time went on. Playing this demo just made all of those feelings come back to me, and even more so because it was much harder playing it with a controller and not KbM. Graphics looked OK overall though. I found the points system kind of strange as well, I kept getting random points for doing nothing. Not sure what that was all about.

I bought it last night without trying the demo.

I played about 1 hr each of SP and MP.

Single player was enjoyable and pretty funny too

Multiplayer was really fun I thought. Most fun I had was getting in the big artillery gun and raining down shells. I wish there was more MP modes though

*I dusted off my Xbox 360 to download the demo.*
I really liked the game, but I really wish it was on PC. I just can't handle thumbstick aiming so well with this game. But it sure is a good looking and fun game! If only it were on PC...

I absolutely loved the sound, loved the graphics, loved the destructible environments, but the controls are way too loose for my tastes regardless of the sensitivity setting. I've said this a million times before, and I'll say it again....CoD4 has ruined me, as it has a lot of people. CoD4 has basically perfect controls, and if you can't match them, then keep your weak shit away from me. I hate FPS console games where they just can't get the sensitivity arc correct as you push a stick further.

Played the demo. Pretty fun. I really enjoyed the humor. Not typical in a military FPS. Unfortunately, I just bought The Orange Box and Burnout Paradise and I'm still playing through GTA4. I'll probably pick it up once I get through those.

Friend has the game and is currently in love with it. He's even having trouble finding time to go about playing WoW because he plays it so much now.

Friend just picked it up and I gave him GTA4 so I could try it out. Single player is ok so far, haven't tried multi yet.

I've got the full game, and I'm going to write a full review up later. I don't like the single player game at all myself - the way they manage health is a weird offshoot of what Halo, Call of Duty, Gears etc. all do, and it's not for the better. I love the multiplayer though - my friend summed it up best "This is a pretty good Battlefield for consoles." Is it as good as 1942 or even BF2? Nah, but it's still the genuine BF experience, and is still a lot of fun. My only huge gripe is that guns should either be stronger, or better yet, more accurate. I hate aiming perfectly as someone's head and the bullets land wherever they choose in a circle around where I aim.

It sucks. There is a noticeable "pop" after you shoot at something to it's "destructing" point and thet it gives the exact same explosion animation for each of those objects. It is quite noticeable, not naturally done at all but the buildings themselves have okay destruction it's just certain objects like windows and fences that give the "pop" then exact same animation.

i would say for their first honest try at SP, it turned out decent. i liked the sense of humor it carried through the campaign. bit short, but it is a BF game...MP is more important. and i think the MP if about as good as BF can get on a console. it's great. only thing holding me back from putting even more time into it is that none of my friends have it right now. sucks going from COD4 with anywhere from 2-5 other people always talking to playing by yourself without even putting your headset on.

Well beat the SP today and thought it was pretty fun. Short, but by the end I was pretty much done anyways.

the MP is pretty fun. I love using the laser designator and calling in guided missiles

just completed the game.... i enjoyed it

the storyline while nothing particularly ground breaking is quite interesting to follow, i found myself wanting to find out what happens next, what happens next. it was quite refreshing to have a story like that in a war game.

the graphics are not what id call awesome, but not terrible either and the destructible things more than make up for it. frame rate is good, though it does need V-Sync in some places. its a shame you cant totally level a building, core structures (like steel work) stays put and inner supporting walls of houses are similarly indestructible. maybe the next iteration of the FB engine will bring this. there is terrain deformation as well, which took me a while to notice, but i guess that just shows how little impact it has on the game.

the sound effects are just the best ive ever heard in a game. really really well done.

AI is pathetic though, i mean your the rookie dude in the squad yet during play its you who dictates what happens and where you go, not the sergeant which is just dumb. even dumber is the actual AI i often find enemies just standing in the open doing nothing but waiting to be shot, i often find my team mates doing sweet FA while im getting blasted to hell. your team are invicible though so they never die, but that attribute is neither here nor there really because it feels like the computer only aims at you. there was me and the sweetnips guy and the computer just kept aiming for me even thought sweetness was literally at point blank range infront of the enemy. on the flip side sweetyboy didnt even bother trying to kill the man shooting me which just makes the AI situation even worse.

i did enjoy them cracking jokes though, even when you're getting a right pounding from helicopters n tanks, its just enough to remind you that your not playing anything remotely realistic.

and that brings me onto the next thing about the AI that i hate.

1) they see you coming a mile off
2) they are able to track you through bushes and trees with consummate ease

and

3) i have no idea why they even bothered making enemy snipers... the guys with the standard machine guns seem to be able to do just as good a job from similar distances often landing 4-5 consecutive shots on you in quick succession. i know its not supposed to be ultra realistic, but the AI accuracy with any type of weapon (RPG and Stingers included) borders on absurd, just absurd. aim bot perhaps? i think so.

also there is an element of auto aiming for your iron sights but its rather weak i found, which is a shame because the controls feel really blunt... its very hard to be precise, its like theres a massive dead spot and then all of sudden full lock and your off looking at the sky or something.

also

it sometimes takes an inordinate amount of bullets to kill and enemy AI, especially towards the end. but then again you can take a few yourself and you got that stupid needle thing to replenish your health at will.

still

fun game. i await the arrival of my XBOX live gold coupon thing so i can play it online... arguably the best bit about any BF game.

Same here. I played so much 1941 and BF2 on the PC, but it looks like I'll skip this one, not simply not go online.

i cant change the deppressing music in the main menu back to the original 1950s music which was the only reason that i continued to play the game.

otispunkmeyer- I love how you said that the AI had an aim bot..of course they do How else would the AI aim? The programmers/designers just made them a bit too superhuman.

My review is up in my blog in my sig.

Anyone else think the in multi the guns should be more accurate? And if not that, then they should up the damage a little? It's pretty annoying to need to hit someone with 12 bullets to kill them, and I'm not a fan of COD4's hardcore mode at all. It just feels like I'm playing Halo sometimes, and the weapons aren't really accurate enough so you can pop off headshots if you're good enough - you can only be *more* likely to hit their head.
