Battlefield BC2 n steam; registering

I have a copy of Battlefield BC2 that I bought retail. Does registering it on Steam make me eligible to then download it through steam with all the updated content?

Origin and BC2 is great, the best part is that unlike BF3 and BF4 you don't need to have origin open to play the game.

Fresh download these days already includes all the updates.

So if I take my disc and load the game into my pc it will automatically update to the latest patch?

The disc version updates itself after you install the game.You run the game for the first time and it checks and then it will prompt you to install the latest version.
