quite a list. I would imagine if you went back and played most of those older games the movement and guns would not be as good as you remember.

Nah I still play most of them from time to time. Some I still play regularly. I was so disappointed in BF4. I loved every iteration up until then.

This game is terrible. It will do as much damage to the BF franchise as BF4 issues did. What a mess.

^^I'm starting to think the same way. I couldn't join a match last night. I do have an unsupported driver.
I'll update and try again.

I don't get it, so the cops need to bring stolen "evidence" money back to HQ just like the robbers?

I think I'd prefer a McCoy vs Clampet hillbilly brawl. Capture cows, chickens and barn yards. Moonshine to regain health, tractors that can have the blade up for armor or down to breach buildings. Bear traps to snarl enemies, ext

played a bit of the beta last night. ugh...more of the same. I still have the same criticisms as the previous BF games.

i really don't get why i have such a problem playing the BF games. I guess they're just completely different than other FPS games I have played.

Yea the controls and the vibe kind of make it mehh for me. I have fun with it but it doesn't feel like a bf game. I dunno it should not be called battlefield that's for sure.

I will still want to play the campaign part of it as that looks interesting so I'm hoping they do a good job with that.

Wha wha WHAT they want $70 for the digital deluxe preorder edition....$70 for this?

Yea that's the usual price for the deluxe edotions. It looks like a downgraded version of bf4. I guess the other game modes like the hostage ones could be fun.

I know it's different teams, but this should be nothing more than an expansion of BF4. Who wants to divide up their server pool even more now to support this game. I know my clan, which is pretty large, can only fund so many BF4 servers and this would only make things worse.

The game itself is pretty fun, but not enough to spend $50+ for what feels like additional maps and a new mode.

Off the top of my head...

BF3, BFBC2, BF2, Counter-Strike 1.6/Source/GO, Day of Defeat, Day of Defeat: Source, TF1, TF2, Red Orchestra 1 and 2, Operation Flashpoint, Delta Force 1, Delta Force 2, Delta Force Land Warrior, Black Hawk Down, every Call of Duty, Insurgency, the first few Medal of Honors, Tribes, and Brothers in Arms.

Actually I think BFBC2 had the most solid, true-to-life feel in terms of weapon handling and character movement. This shows that the coders between BFBC2 and BF3 were totally different.

I agree.

Also, this game is literally the worst Battlefield game that has come out. It is a terrible BF4 mod. It is essentially an unbalanced, unpolished (I know right?) BF4, with cops vs robbers.

Or as my IRC chat went:

03:22 < ussfletcher_aws> ooh apparently im in the battlefield │
hardline beta │ │

04:30 < ussfletcher_aws> battlefield hardline is literally one of │
the worst games i have ever played │
04:30 < ussfletcher_aws> it is a terribly unbalanced and │
unpolished bf4 mod that costs $50.

Admittedly I've only played about 20 minutes and it is beta and I do have the settings pretty low so I won't comment on how it looks. I will say that:
Its a really odd setting. Cops and robbers but no civilians.....no signs of civilians any where
Why does everyone seem to have real hardcore weapons in this empty city
Movement seemed ok to me but vehicles were stupid fast and maneuverable
There never seems any destruction like BF3/4
If modding was allowed I would call this an interesting mod but its not so when I am excepted to pay for it I'd wait for a free Origin offer.

I was playing on ps4 and it joins immediately. But I can never make out the enemies until they are killing you then you see their shadow through a wall. Took a while to get used to bf4 but this one is a little worse to get the hang of.

I always that problem with every BF game. there's so much shit going on and too much clutter. plus the enemy is tiny unless he is right on top of you, and even then they're still small.

This!

That's actually one of my biggest gripes with a lot of games (like RO2 or ARMA for instance) that claim to be combat simulations. Human beings are actually quite nimble, and it isn't that difficult to raise and sight a rifle quickly and effectively. As arcadey as BFBC2 is, it gets the basic movement and gunplay feelings right for the most part.

It seems like BF is really being driven into the ground with the attempt to match CoD's release cycle.

just timed it, 3 minutes from clicking quick match launch to getting to the deploy screen, and that was actually faster than normal.

Finally got my key and played for about an hour. For a lot of reasons I didn't enjoy it one bit, I thought it was pretty bad. Being on BF4's old terrible netcode is a good reason to hate it but the Battlefield mechanics combined with these game modes wasn't fun at all.

I didn't even feel like it had much of battlefield's mechanics. The movement is pretty floaty.

Ugh I played another 4 rounds what a turd this is. I still can't figure out why all the Police vehicles have chain guns. The whole premise of this game makes no damn sense. I'm out.

I played some beta... uninstalled it already.

That should describe how I feel.

Womp womp, just signed up.

We are all terribly sorry for you :'(

Please accept our sympathies that you have to suffer such horrifying digital abuse, and we hope that you can escape that travesty as soon as possible.

I'm seriously thinking this is the worst 'major' release of the decade so far. It's quite amazingly bad in almost every respect. There's a lot less going on, but the graphics are STILL a big step down from even BF3, and BF4 looks miles better (even though BF3 played better and was more stable than BF4).

EA needs to be careful with the BF brand, for real. They're well on their way to killing it.

Brief history (IMHO)

BF1942 : Amazing game. Not perfect, but super ambitious, and fun, lots of depth. Loved being able to play with bots.

BF1942 mod : Desert Combat : One of the most amazing mods of all time, and really set the stage for the future. For a community mod, this is spectacular work.

BF Vietnam : Disappointing, but wasn't truly horrible. Just mediocre.

BF2 : Boom, baby. Balance issues aside, it really raised the bar in so many areas. Just a fantastic title. No, the gun mechanics weren't perfect, and a pro in a jet could go 100-0 for 100 rounds in a row, but there was so much magic here.

BF2142 : I never got into this, but it did have a lot of dedicated fans that swore on it's quality, so I'll take their word for it.

BFBC1 : Never played it, so I have no idea.

BFBC2 : Liked it a lot, but felt the scope didn't live up to BF2. Pretty awesome step up in engine quality for sure.

BF3 : One of my favorite FPS of all time. No, definitely not perfect, but I had countless hours of fun with this one. I even grew to like Origin+Battlelog system, and had very very few issues ever with it.

BF4 : Meh. I don't hate it per se, but the vehicles feel sluggish/crappy to me. I also had hordes of technical problems until I literally wiped a spare SSD and ran it on 8.1 (even though 100s of other games worked flawlessly on the W7 Pro load, go figure). I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's just not FUN to me.

BF : HL : The worst FPS I've played perhaps ever (major publishers).
