Maybe I'll redownload the game on my PC and continue now. I swapped hard drives and never reinstalled BF5. I'm probably so behind anyway.

Yeah i found myself usually avoiding many multiplayer games where there isn't a private server. Wouldn't lie when it feels extremely anti-consumer. Not sure why the best overall Dice/BF games had private servers and suddenly someone somewhere figured no that's a bad idea lets drop them. If i recall if a server mod is being abusive you could report the server too right? I see no logic behind why this was removed and honestly since then it seems even more common place where people glitch/cheat/hack and cause of these issues i certainly haven't played much multiplayer lately.

If the server mod was being abusive the players just voted with their feet and left. Now you don't have clan servers anymore which again makes community building harder. We used to do clan events on the server and close it to just clan members, or invite other clans onto the server for clan v clan matches. That type of activity built community and loyalty to the game.

So patch 4.6 is out now and a new map. They are also releasing a Metro clone in Oct. The gameplay has improved but map content is lacking. The road map shows 3 new maps taking place in the Pacific later this year, hopefully that pans out.

Maybe filter issues? BF1 for me no matter what i did last time i played would only show like 3 active servers 2 full and like one with 5 people experiencing the same issue.

Was in the mood for some BF4 last night, i kept getting disconnected from the session errors. Then it also happened in BC2 as well and usually that game is problem free. I guess others have been having same issues with the Fifa 2020 game most likely causing it?

Huge update out, and Wake Island comes out tomorrow. Top 3 map for me, if not the best. I simply love it and played sooooooo much of that map. Really looking forward to it, and hoping DICE doesnt screw it up. After a lull, BFV has gotten better for me over the past several months. And finally a anti aircraft portal weapon system is out.

The trailer is not in game footage, so hard to tell. And I guess I read it wrong, Wake Island is coming in Dec. Iwo Jima and Pacific Storm is now. Just logged in and both are live. Dammit, I was so excited. Pacific Storm is supposed to have "shades of Paracel Storm" from BF4, which was a really good map.

I am liking the new content,it brought me back especially operation underground but i found out quickly how broken some of the weapons are now. The M1 needs a nerf if i ever saw one. Nice to see the M1 though, haven't seen it since BC2.

Can only hope the Wake remake ends up good. Haven't been a big fan of the BF5 maps but between Operation and Wake i could very well become a regular player finally. Been stuck in BF4 and as much as i crave something new shooter wise this new dlc will prob bring me to BF5 for good.

Sitting on a 3gb 1060 at 1440p currently,it plays good with some reduced settings but in the market for a new gpu. Most benchmarks showing the 5700xt outrunning the 2070 Super at 1440p are more or less accurate right? Torn between picking one of those up this evening or saving up for a 2080 Super/1080 ti. Part of me says just to get a 5700xt then save whatever else i would have spent on a 2080 Super and put that towards a 3080/3080ti maybe.

I really like the new content. The maps play well. Though with only 2 of them, it'll wear off fast. Adding Wake in Dec will help but we'll have to see how much of a wait it will be after that. I'm surprised to see they went back tanks spawning on points. First I thought people were just bailing on tanks.

As for the video cards, if you don't care about RTX, go with the 5700xt, that'll give you the frame rates you need. I basically have the same horsepower as you with a 970 but I'm only running at 1080 so it handles it fine.

After some time thinking about it,i settled on a used 1080ti. So far no regrets. Handles BF5 maxed out at 1440p with ease with usually well over 100 which surprised me. Manhandles my lesser demanding games as well. A Ampere upgrade may be in my future if claims of massive RT performance is to be true. Gonna need better then 2080ti RT performance prob if i wanna stay above 60+ minimum though.

When I started the game this morning the announcement was that Wake will be available to play on Dec. 12th, so you wont be missing anything this week unless you have some sort of early access that I don't.

Yeah... Just saw that. Updated the game, Wake Island is a map to pick in the map tree, but can't play it. Who does this? Why put a map out there in the game, that you can select, but not play?! Ugh.

December 12th just happens to be my birthday, so it's not too bad anyway. I hope I'm not disappointed. All time fav map.

Breakthrough on Wake is fun, but the couple of Conquest games I played were pretty dull due to the enormous distance between flags and the lack of vehicles to move about. I spent too much time running from place to place to be enjoyable.

I played it a few times, on different modes too. You can waste a lot of time running around. I typically dont do that, and instead setup a defense on likely adversary movements. Where they are going to next. Siting for a few mins and waiting can be dull, but it can also be rewarding When a few think they are going to walk into what they think is an abandoned flag and you whip them out. Mines, mines, mines. My favorite thing to do is take out armor. Chasing flag is frustrating, taking the same flags over and over again because nobody played defense, instead they rush in a group from flag to flag. Starting out on defense is fun for me, getting the the end flags, and trying to take them out as they come to land. Really enjoy this map.

The map itself is a pretty true to form on the older versions of it. Some new buildings, tunnels, etc. But overall pretty classic. I do like how you can see the enemy on the other side of the map, from one side of the "U" to the other, but cant really engage them. I have always liked that. There are things I would like changed, but overall I am pretty happy with the map. Plan to play it almost exclusively for a bit.

Games with evenly matched teams would probably be okay, but so far Ive been on stacked teams and the other side can hardly get a flag so they just attacked willy nilly, here and there. It seemed like every time I would post up on a flag they would then go to the other side of the island, most times I'd rather just suicide and redeploy closer to the action than try to traverse all that ground or to wait in hopes that they would come back anytime soon. lol

On the other hand Ive been in several great and really close matches that have went all the way around the island with the winner determined at the very last flag playing Breakthrough.

Luck of the draw I guess.

New update and new map out today. Some new weapons and other stuff. New Tides challenges today as well.

Map is pretty good depending on the game mode. Lots of jungle and water. And damn vehicles. But no planes thankfully.

I will have to try it,currently reinstalling it cause i got a secondary hard drive and putting it on there now for good .A map without planes sounds awesome but last time i played i was more upset with the instant deaths. I hated the entire hit reg feeling, glimpse around corners to instant deaths was quite retarded if you ask me.

Dang shame i was having a blast actually before that last patch. I came back to a mess for sure. Was it even fixed?

Wanted to bench a i5 8400t for a future htpc build . It runs fairly good with over 60fps with it topping out near 120 at times maxed at 1080p. Had some stutter here and there but nothing major that would have me eating my own hair of course. Had to turn down to much on the 1080ti to even consider it for a 4k experience even though i had odd issues with me getting worst frames at 4k over 1080p with cpu bottlenecked settings?

The htpc build will be hooked up to a 50'' 1080p so maybe it will see some BF5 again when the build is complete sometime this year. Sure ran good enough,was surprised a 3ghz all core 6 threaded chip did so well. As usual no matter what, the thing being passively cooled by a big cooler keeps temps down under 60 cel and for older games its quite the beast.

The 4k experience was very weird, maybe a chip issue or game idk. Never seen any other game in my life act this way. Even using resolution scale at 1080p to go to 4k more or less showed same exact results.

Yeah i tried the game out again, yeah i am finally enjoying it again. The last patch to ruin everything was so bad,i pretty much uninstalled the game. Been to much of a emotional roller coast with this game. One time its great, then dlc comes out its amazing then it gets broken i uninstall in a fit then they fix it. I swear if they break the game AGAIN after i get back into it then i will prob be 100% done.

The 7700k i am currently using is such a massive bottleneck for the 1080ti at 1080p though. Looking at 3700x/Comet Lake perhaps next month.
