Battlefiled 2 problem

My battlefield 2 worked fine until I installed the 1.03 patch. now when i double click on the icon the screen goes black for a few seconds then sends me back to the desktop. any ideas ?!

Perhaps try uninstalling the game, making sure that you don't have a BF2 folder left over in my documents, and then reinstall the game.

If you still get the crash mentioned, make sure that you haven't done anything in your driver settings that would prevent the game from using 800x600@60Hz.

I've seen a number of folks with this problem on other forums, but I don't think there seems to be a single good answer as to what the issue is; so, you're left with the usual gamut of things to try.
