Anyone play any of the beta yet? Went to watch a link of youtube and there was a playthrough vid of this in the sidebar I peeked at afterwards and it looked quite nice.

Yeah, I put about 12 hours into it last summer. It's fun. I think they've done a reasonable job of keeping the feel of CBT (as in the board game) while streamlining gameplay and making it a bit more accessible. I'm looking forward to the finished game.

One time while in vegas I stopped by the pod center they had there. Hard to do well on your first visit and game was kinda short, but would have loved having one close to home to get more practice playing like that.

Finally put in a preorder at GMG at they had it the cheapest and the game they added along was only offering I didn't have already. Only 2 days till release.

I played those a few times. I forgot how utterly crap the graphics were. Always did it in easy mode though, I once played it in advanced mode, you could do a lot of extra stuff like indirect fire the missiles using radar.

I backed the kickstarter. Buddy of mine who is a HUGE battletech geek (works at the fanpro booth at gencon, etc) got the beta access and he seems pretty pleased with it. I figure it can't be too much off from the original in feel if he isn't' complaining about it.

So many good games this year - king maker, bt, poe2, and a gazillion others. Odd thing none of these are big publishers games.

Hopefully a mod will fix that soon. I'm not happy fielding less than a battalion.

And i agree dave hopefully there is a mod to get it up to at least a full company. Hopefully the engine can take it.

While I don't think you need to field a battalion, I have always preferred the weight and credit method of limiting mechs. That way you can field a variety of different mechs without being forced to give up a lot of firepower. There are advantages to smaller mechs, but if I am strictly limited to 4 mechs they become nothing more than scouts for the heavy hitters.

I liked MechCommander 2 because I could mount gauss rifles on UrbanMechs and drop like 20 of them into a map. As long as I didn't let the AI spread them out too much, hilarious things happened.

Only negative I'm seeing so far has to do with need for a paradox account login and there servers being fubared under initial load.

That's only for MP. You can do all the SP stuff without logging in.
