This is a significant bit of info in reference to the Bausch & Lomb RENU product.

According to this week's Barron's, use of this product has been tied to corneal fungus (fungi?).
This has caused Bausch & Lomb to voluntarily stop sales of their RENU product in Asia and some other specific places.

Eyes are way too precious to take any chances with them.

The Renu with Moisture loc is probably the best solution I've used - no others comes close.

Aosept disinfectant/disc + Renu Moisture loc = easy on your eyes.

I guess that the robberBarron's will be selling short?

Honestly, I'm just the messenger and felt that an alert was necessary.
Barron's reports that B&L has lost ? of their market cap over the last several month due, apparently, to this little faux pas.

Just pulled this from my local news website (king5.com) ... I'm throwing away my sample now....

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Bausch & Lomb has temporarily stopped shipping its ReNu with Moisture Loc contact lens solution because of links to eye infections. Since June of last year, patients in 17 states have come down with a fungal infection that can cause temporary blindness.

Resources
Bausch & Lomb
The announcement follows the release of a report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that it is reviewing reports of 109 cases of suspected fungal keratitis. The CDC reports that the majority of cases have yet to be reviewed, but of the 30 cases reviewed to date, 28 involved contact lens wearers. Twenty-one reported using ReNu brand contact lens care products and 5 reported using a combination of ReNu and products manufactured by other companies.

Bausch & Lomb officials say they have been collaborating with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the CDC, major eye centers and health authorities in a comprehensive investigation to determine if the reports represent an increase in the historical incidence of these infections, and to determine the root cause.

This fusarium fungus is no joke. We had a contact lens wearer show up at work (hospital) for his second corneal transplant. Apparently he had been in the habit of wearing his contact lenses for months at a time (extended wear) when he started to get redness and pain in one eye. The opthalmologist was saying that fusarium was pretty rare and more of a nuisance in the past and now all of the sudden, they have been getting a lot of severe cases. In any case, this patient had been on a number of conventional antifungals and the fusarium could not be eradicated. Eventually was put on an experimental antifungal. One look at his affected eye could make any contact lens user quit! Young guy too... Please be safe! Practice good hygiene. Discard lens cases after 3 months of use. Stop using Renu until the CDC investigation into the product is wrapped up.

Geez, you know that should probably be common sense, but I just realized I've been using the same darn case for YEARS! Thanks for the reminder...I'm buying a new one tomorrow. Other than that, I'd say I'm pretty careful about my contacts.

Did he wear them for months at a time without taking them out?

The news showed a photo of a fungus infected eye when they reported on the RENU recall. Way scarry!
Looked like full-blown aids of the eye.

I guess I'm skeptical of this. I take out my contacts every night, always wash my hands before going anywhere near my eye or when handling contacts and have been using this MoistureLoc solution for months now with no issues.

I'd be very surprised the contacts solution had anything to do with these outbreaks with all the different variables you have to factor in like proper contact care, cleanliness, etc.

re-quote because i don't think people are supposed to keep using this stuff.

B&L's stock dumped 50% because of this bad medical report about this Renu stuff.
