Baystack 303 Switch

Hi guys,

I did a bit of hunting after this switch (Baystack 303) I found today. Im not sure if it works but the LEDS light up including the status LED and any other valid ethernet port.

I am trying to connect to it via a serial cable to COM1.
I believe I am setup properly but I am unsure of how to test to verify so.

I set it to 9600, no parity, 8 bits, 1 stop bit.
I have tried emulation set to auto as well as to VT100.

I get no responses, and I am unsure of how to test the serial cable or if the COM port's configuration is valid and functional.

Any pointers? Im new to managed switches. Thanks!

I can check the settings for the terminal I have my baystack 350 hooked up to when I get home, but I'm not sure if they would be the same settings as a hyperterm session (which is what I am assuming you are using).

probably need to use a null modem cable.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm wondering if its worth buying a null modem cable or just dumping the switch in the trash again?
I've never had my hands on managed switches and its something I've been wanting to touch on.
