Let's talk about that Western Digital at Best Buy for $50 with 256M of generic memory.
I've searched the internet for specs on this drive and found nothing. WD's site has nothing either. It's not listed in their legacy section so I assume it's still a new product. Given the fact that the part number ends in BB it must be the 7200 rpm edition with 2MB cache. So the big questions are:
1) Is it a standard 80G renamed to show the amount of available storage available under Windows? (maybe the future of drive naming?)
2) Does this thing have the 60G platters or the older lower density platters? This is where it gets fuzzy.
I'm willing to stand in line at 0400 tomorrow for a decent drive, but if this thing is just a WD reject then I'll steer away.
What do you think?
